    Default Problem with sound card

Alright, I just got Sound Blaster Audigy 2, but can't enjoy my new audio, since it's not working. There's no sound.

So, I uninstalled the old AC97 drivers, put my new Audigy in the PCI-slot, disabled AC97 from BIOS and installed a new set of drivers.
To be more precise, I tried it in 3 different PCI-slots with about 4 different drivers, still nothing. Windows recognizes the card, device manager tells that it's working properly, but I still can't hear anything. It plays audio files, but no sound.
Before someone asks: Yes, I plugged in my Logitech speakers, to a green little hole in the card. In fact, I tried all of those coloured holes, no use.

It's driving me mad. Is there something I'm missing, or should I just kick the card around a bit, chop it with my axe, burn it and throw it away? I'm seriously considering doing that right now..

    I also have a creative Audigy 2.
I can confirm that the green connector is the correct one for stereo sound.

The only thing that I can think off right now, is the volume control.
Make sure that all the volume sliders are up.

Also: have you installed just the drivers, or the complete software package that came with the Audigy 2?
From my experience the other software (like "media source") won't install unless the drivers are installed correctly, so you could use that as an extra check.

And btw: you didn't have to uninstall AC'97, it doesn't conflict with the Audigy2.

Maybe in control panel--> sounds and audio devices, in the audio tab make sure your card is the selected method.

Not getting any sound is definitely an annoying problem though, im sure i had similar problems when switching from motherboard to card sound.

Yeah, sound is definetely turned on, and Audigy is selected in all options. I might try it again, this time without disabling AC97 or something..

Erik, could you link to those drivers/software you're using? They're probably somewhere in the internet.

They should all be on the CD-ROM that came with your Audigy2.
You did install the drivers from the CD-ROM, right? if not, then what drivers did you install?

You can also download drivers and application updates from http://creative.com/support/
I don't think the website contains all the software (it does contain the complete drivers and at least some complete applications), you are supposed to install from the CD-ROM first and then use the website just for updates (probably because creative doesn't want people using their software if they haven't bought one of their sound cards)

    Thanks for the tip, Erik.
But no, it's no use, the setup says it can't detect any Audigy card and tells me to install hardware properly. So I tried moving it in different PCI slots, again. one slot gave me a black screen and it didn't go to Windows, another slot doesn't seem to detect it at all, since Windows says nothing at the startup. However, the sound card appears in devide manager, and it says it has drivers installed and is working properly. I don't think so, I cleaned all that crap away. The third, and the last slot recognizes the card, but when I start the driver setup, it says it can't detect it.
Nah, I'm done with this ****.. Back to my lovely AC97.
