    Default jealous religious missing out

Are religious jealous of the absolute freedom one can have without any restraint? They don't feel worthy enough of the possibilities available to them? Kill, steal, lie...all these things can be use to your advantage to get what you want. Because they have given up on want, they turn to religion as a sign of weakness to justify their failures.

Seems like the friend that's jealous because you get everything so easily and they have nothing, so in return they hate your acts and find pride in themselves with mythical reasoning.

the thread title can be changed to 'jealous members of society missing out' without missing a beat.

From the sound of this post, we are not the jealous ones.
What did we do to anger you? Oh, have different beliefs! That's it. It seems as if you find it fine for someone such as yourself to try to bash others because of different religious beliefs but when one of us tries to do it--watch out! That crazy radical just said something insulting! I'm not defending radicalism, but I am merely illustrating a point.

I have a feeling you're just doing this to get a rise from people.

Without restraint? We have just as many restraints as any religious person, we are restrained by that which will benefit us and society.

Remember there are many normative, secular theories for morality (social contract, utilitarianism, Kant's theories). So any person who supposedly does not believe in God because of logic must look at morality and the reason for moral intuitions.

If you actually think about the actions (most) that christianity abhors, you will find that these same morals are what is best for society and yourself.

Most religions are predicated on the idea of free will. In other words its their choice to refrain from that which they might do and to do acts which they consider good. In other words their absolute freedom as you called it (I'd like to see how absolutely free you are if you go on a murder spree though) exist just as much as yours, choosing to limit ones self is hardly a sign of failure. Usually its associated with improvement. A boxer limits what he eats to eliminate fat and increase muscle, a diplomat restrains his opinions of others in order to come to an alternate understanding, a scientist limits his experiments so that he can understand one variable of the whole, an artist limits his depictions in order to increase impact and meaning, A game limits its scope to one period and place in order to give a comprehensive gaming experience.

Unless you think total chaos is a worthy value. There has to be a balance struck and that what limitations are all about.

Well chaos isn't a worthy value to live by. The more you live your life with too much chaos or too little will affect the equilibrium of happiness.

Your not really alive with so many limitations, and you're dead if living in chaotic despair.

SO i guess you basically have to make a choice.

You must've missed it in the news - Youtube is being sued in a multimillion dollar suit for copyright infringement. If I uploaded "The Matrix" to Youtube and they didn't catch it, that wouldn't make it legal.

Any unauthorized usage of copyrighted material is illegal.

As a rule of thumb, if you are watching or distributing any copyrighted material without paying, (save for samples from reputable sites- cnn ect) it is illegal.

This implies religious people living after the teachings of the prophet/God/Spirit they follow. I do not see that, at least not in western society nor elsewhere, at least in general. What I see is people adapting their religion to the society they live in, their personal beliefs etc. a sort of pick and choose form of belief. ''Hmm, that commandment requires sacrifice from me, and makes me giver up something I like, Ill decide that it is outdated or less important than this commandment, that I already live by'', this is what I see in modern religiosity. If people where to live by the teachings and laws that their religion teaches, they would be less free, don't see it. I do see people following a religion who try to limit the freedoms of others and using religion to justify it.

Not saying that religious people are doing this because they are evil, its just human nature.
