Adware?

My norton antivirus recently detected two infections of adware. When I tried to delete or quarantine It said I did not have the access or anything (yes I am admin). I was wondering how I would go about deleting them? I did a quickscan with Norton and did not detect anything.

Also on a related note how dangerous is adware?

usually not very dangerous, but in large quantity it can severely slow down your computer. download ad-aware from lavasoft, there is a personal free version - it usually takes care of those little buggers, a lot better than norton does ....

EDIT: if you want to delete the xxxxxxxs with your norton, start your pc in safe mode, then do a full scan - norton will pick up on them and delete them without a problem ...
