    Default Weird shadows with 8800Gts

I have a asus 8800Gts.Everything runs fine, but the shadows appear strange. There are no shadows on trees, trebuchets.Sahdows appears only if i zoom in on max(on units). In a far distance i can't see any shadows on units.sahdows work properly only on buildings and cannons.

    Using windows xp,asus 8800gts,drivers 101.02

    What's the problem?

p.s sry for my english,i'm from lithuania...

Maybe switch back to the 97.92 drivers (here). The 101.02 drivers aren't necessarily made for your card. See here.

Nvidia isn't properly supporting the 8800's, imho. I have one and it works great, but they've been so slow on driver updates.

I vaguely recall general issues with shadows in the 8800's. The way the hardware works in the 8800's is different than what came before. They probably need to work out some of the kinks (i.e. drivers 9 months from now will fix it).

I suggest turning off shadows and cranking the rest up as high as it goes. Forget shadows and go for better everything else. Shadows use tons of resources, but to each his own.

I have exactly the same issue with my 8800 GTX (using 101.70's - leaked yesterday), highly frustrating because those shadows look pretty decent on 'Extreme'.

Here is an example if anyone if anyone has any bright ideas:

Notice the shadows on the soldiers but not the trees.

Out of curiosity, are you running Vista?

I am running Vista 32-bit yes.

Don't have this issue with anything else really. Dunno what to do because I can't really feel satisfied unless I have those shadows there.
