Regarding the Factions locations on campaign map

One thing ladies and gentlemen concerns me and kind of confuses me also:

On the campaign, when you choose your faction, I see daggers and shaded light and dark areas.

Question: How am I to know which areas a faction really controls?
The faction landmarks on the campaign map are too nebulous.

Please, Can someone correct this issue (via quickfix) by demarcating with dark colors on the map which areas a faction has/owns or at least point out to me in a clearer way which factions control what areas on the campaign map somehow?

Those are I believe, the victory conditions for your faction.(The bright yellow areas being places you already own, and the dark gold areas being places you need to take/hold.)
