That's all I listen to. I need new music, what should a guy like me put in my rotation?

QoTSA are a great band, imo with 2 of the best albums from 2000 on (A song for the Deaf and Lullabys to Paralyze). Muse my little bro turned me on to, they seem to have a rather large Queen influence which I like.

Cornell's lyrics are consistantly among the best ever in rock, and his vocals pwn almost all rock singers at every point in rock history.

Do you like the more acoustic Pearl Jam songs? If so, find folk music of the 60s and 70s. Do you like their mid-harder stuff, or their attitude? Go with their contemporaries, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone, Mad Season, Temple of the Dog, Mudhoney, etc, as well as supposed grunge roots bands like Husker Du and the Pixies, both of which I think you'd like. There was a lot of fantastic stuff in the early 90s, not just grunge, but indie (especially shoegaze), rave, metal, brit-pop, that sort of thing. If you like the era, try more bands from the time. Any genre! Listening to only one type of music is a sin!
Try and listen as much different music as possible. Here are some artists that came to my mind first.
Alice In Chains, Pantera, Pink Floyd, Sepultura, Black Sabbath, B.B King, The Beatles, Bad Religion, Danzig, Led Zeppeling, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Ozzy Osbourne, Dimmu Borgir, Bob Marley.
Hmmm, I'm going to add some detail:
A Perfect Circle: A must try really. With Maynard James Keenan on vocals, they're the perfect complement to Tool. As he put it himself, the band represents his more feminine side, with Tool as his masculine.
Rage Against the Machine: Definitely recommend RAtM to you. Vocals may be a bit different than Tool and PJ, but they make great use of extended technique in the guitar and bass, which is something I think any Tool fan can appreciate
Smashing Pumpkins: My personal favourite. So long as you can get into Billy Corgan's vocal style, I'm sure you'll like 'em. Great guitar work and lyrics. Overall incredible song writing
Alice in Chains: Definitely a must listen. Where Nirvana was more Punk inspired, and Pearl Jam influenced by classic rock (particularly the Who), AiC were very much more metal in style. Heavy riffs and haunting vocals. Fantastic band.
King Crimson: Maynard James Keenan, and indeed the rest of Tool will constantly cite King Crimson as their primary influence, and I really can't suggest them enough.
Those are my main suggestions, but I would also add: Mudhoney, Temple of the Dog, the Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots and Mother Love Bone.

Glen Danzig was good in the Misfits as well as solo Ragabash, I agree with that.
If he likes any of what he's heard of rock music he's heard enough of both The Doors and Zepp to have made up his mind, so both of our suggestions are probably moot on that count. I honestly am no tool fan, and don't much care for APC either.
Temple of the Dog, as I mentioned in another thread, was a one off band formed as a rememberance of a friend of both Chris Cornell and Vedder.
Alice In Chains is the pwnage, seek it out.
The Pixies are not "supposed" grunge, but proto grunge, in that they came before and influenced much of what grunge would become. Same goes for Mudhoney, except that they weren't around quite as early as The Pixies IIRC. Either way, pick up "Wave of Mutilation" by the Pixies, its a good hits compilation.

As the Pixies are one of my all time favourite bands, I would suggest not picking up Wave of Mutilation, as it concentrates far too much on Surfer Rosa and Doolittle, and I think Trompe le Monde is far and away their best album. All their studio albums are good, though - it's worth picking them up (in any order, despite they all have unique sounds). The Pixies are not "supposed" grunge, but proto grunge, in that they came before and influenced much of what grunge would become. Well I defer to the expert then. I tend to hear a song I like from a band, then seek out some sort of compilation, then buy the albums individually. I liked everything I heard on Wave, but if you say Trompe le Monde is their best I'll have to get around to it sooner than I'd planned on.
