    Icon10 bridge battles (bug?)

hello everyone, im new here (obviously)

i have rtw 1.5/bi 1.6 and the 1.8 rtr platinum mod installed. this mod is so much fun and i have wasted so much of my life playing this

but there's this thing/(bug?) ive noticed that happens often when i play bridge battles vs Seleucid. ill demonstrate with pictures below because its hard for me to describe
    --------

Heres my usual setup, with 3 spear units (usually 3 pikemen units, but in this case, i was missing one, so i substituted with merc. hoplites) gurading the bridge.

    ---
50% of the time, the enemy units just keep rushing forward into the meat grinder, though they often succeed in disrupting my pikemen and even win sometimes. when this happens it is the most fun, and i think its intended to happen like this

    -----
the other 50% of the time though, most of the enemy gets stuck at the bridge, with one or two units that make it through. but those units just run around aimlessly, sometimes attacking my spearmen but mostly they just look confused as if they dont know what to do.

for example, here another full stack of the seleucid army attacks me (immediately following the battle as illustrated above) and this time with a very capable general... or so you would *think* so:

i know this picture looks normal, but the battle literally stays like this for 5 min., as most of the enemy units are seemingly "stuck" on the bridge, while the few that got to my side never seems to really engage in any fighting. The game then gets extremely laggy, and stays this way until my scorpions finally scare them into routing (or if im out of ammo they just eventually run away themselves).

I've replayed this two battles shown above countless times, and everytime, the first army always attacks me the right way, while the second army led by the general doesnt. When battles like the latter occur, i feel like i never really earned the heroic victory, and it doesnt feel as enjoyable (not to mention the game gets so laggy that the "battle" seems to drag on forever).

Anyone have any idea what happening here? Is it something I did, or what? It's gotta be something because of how consistently the first battle turns out vs the second battle. Only difference between the two is that the latter had a general, but both had almost all pikemen.

oh and also whenever they rout, they stupidly rout toward me instead of the other way (but im sure that questino has been asked before)

I heard that rtw 1.5 caused some new probs that rtw 1.2 didnt have. Should I revert back to rtw 1.2 and install reg. rtr, or have these bridge bugs always been happening?

Anyways, sorry, that was long. But if anyone has any ideas, thanks in advance!

Hmmm. Not quite sure why it's doing that. Two recommendations

    1) Don't downgrade to 1.2 1.5 does introduce some bugs, but it solves way more.

    2) In the second battle, try taking the unit on the end of your right flank and rotating it approximately 75 degrees clockwise so it's nearly facing the river. Leave some space between it and the river. I've a hunch that the AI's pathfinding is getting stuck in some sort of loop, and giving it even a potential way out on that side might solve the problem.

Try to use Sinuhet's Formation mod for RTRPE. The enemy moving to the right is Darth's Formation known enemy movement.

In the installer it's already included the option but if you can't found it, I believe you can look at Sinuhet's own thread.
