    Default 77 BC Some questions

Yay, I found the forum :-) I´ve already praised this mod in another
thread but I gladly do it again. What a fantastic mod! :-)

    Questions:

    1. The legions consist of 7 cohorts in this mod. I have always believed that
the romans divided their legions into 10 cohorts after the Marius reform.
Why is it 7? Historically correct? Game balance? Other reasons?

    2. Deployment of legions. Im using the legions based on the 7 cohorts with
some local skirmishers and cavalry. Anyone have a suggestion how I should
deploy the legion to be as historically correct as possible? Would a consul have an outsized army at this time period? Any information on this would be very appreciated.

    3. Recruitment. Its probably me, but I cant recruit any legions outside of
Italy. Is there a reform? A certain barrack? City size? (I saw a description
in game that, for instance, Thapsus and Pergamon should be able to recruit
    legions)

    4. Other mods. I was thinking of installing the latin voice mod and also MCMs formation mod for RTRPE 1.8. Would that be a bad idea? I dont want to mess anything up :-)

Once again, thank you!!!! Great work on this mod!

    1. As you say, mostly game balance to enable the possibility of having at least two legions in the same stack, along with the general or some auxilliaries. Besides, we needed to give the SPQR faction a number of legions similar to the one they had in 77bc but without having so many units as to steamroll the map in a few turns.

    2. If I remember correctly, the First cohort was always placed on the right. Apart from that, Proconsuls like Caesar, Pompey or Crassus used to field large armies of several legions but the game engine will not enable more than two in one stack. In order to achieve your objectives and to have a proper challenge, I would suggest you to create armies with one legion, a general, a couple of units of artillery and fill the rest with Auxillia or mercenary units.

    3. Welcome to the world of Realism . Until well after the Principate, access to the legions was only enabled for Italian citizens. As there were some towns outside Italy that were granted Roman citizenship, therefore being allowed to recruit legionnaries (the most known case would be Cisalpine Gaul in Caesar's time) we have changed the old "Marian reforms" to portray this: build an Imperial Palace in any Italian city (except Rome) and you will get the possibility of recruiting legions in the settlements that historically were granted the "Civium Romanorum"

    4. I really would not do so, as I am not quite aware of the effects of other mods on 77 BC. But you can always make a copy of the 77b folder, change the RTW-BI.exe path and make your tests in it.

Thanks for the feedback and for the praise!
