Default Re: Difference between MC Music remix and RTR music addon?

With my RTR Music ReMix mod, I replaced several of the music tracks of the RTR v6.2 Music Pack with better sound-quality versions, from either earlier music preview copies, or original music tracks I received from Vlad Kuryluk. I also added 1 music track I received from Vlad Kuryluk that had not been added to the RTR v6.2 Music Pack.

After all the above, I cleaned-up and re-organized the RTW music file to use both the music of RTR, plus the 1 bonus music track from Vlad Kuryluk, and the better music tracks of Vanilla RTW.

If you do not want to hear any, or most of, the Vanilla RTW music, while enduring the poorer sound-quality of some of the music tracks of RTR v6.2 Music Pack, you might prefer the RTR v6.2 Music Pack.

Otherwise, give the RTR Music ReMix mod a try. You can always edit the "descr_sounds_music.txt" file and have the RTW game engine use only the music tracks you prefer, even adding more of your own choosing to the "Rome - Total War\Data\sounds\music" folder.

Here is a copy of the ReadMe file for the RTR Music ReMix mod...

Center's community in an effort to enhance its game play experience.

All credits for the recorded mp3 files goes to the respective originators listed
in the Music Credits section below. I would like to thank the Creative
Assembly and Jeff Van Dyck for the RTW music, and the RTR team and Vlad
Kuryluk for the RTR music. Without their efforts, we would not be enjoying the
    music selection in this mod.

    -------------------------------------------------
Notes for Marcus Camillus' RTR Music ReMix Mod:
    -------------------------------------------------
This music add-on mod is compatible with the RTR Platinum, RTR Gold and any
    previous version of RTR.

I originally created this mod after using the RTR(v6.1) and then RTR(v6.2)
Music Add-on. I really liked the music, but got tired real quick with the
obvious music editing mistakes, such as the one song that ended abruptly
near its end. The second version added some new tracks, but the repairs to
the previous version music could still be heard to someone like myself who has
a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS. So I decided it was time I did something
    about it myself.

I'm a bit of an organization fanatic, and have been a long time fan of RTR. I
have been archiving quite a few things from or relating to RTR during its
development. One thing was that I downloaded and saved Vlad Kuryluk's
music previews posted on the RTR Forums or Website prior to the release of
    RTR(v6.1) Music Add-on.

Using these copies of the music previews, along with the two release versions
of the RTR Music Add-on, and my extracted copies of the original RTW music,
I recreated the music selection of the music add-on, replacing the damaged
sound tracks with copies of the same songs, minus the editing errors, from
these music previews. I also have copies of the earlier versions of RTR back
to RTR(v5.4.1), so I have the earlier original RTR music.

This version of the RTR Music ReMix Mod has quality copies of 71 RTW/RTR
music tracks (66 are unique, 5 are used twice), nearly the entire RTW/RTR
music selection. I have renamed all of the tracks in an organized function
specific manner and cleaned up the "descr_sounds_music.txt" file. I have tried
to organize the entire music selection along culture-specific lines. I divided up
the campaign and battle mobilization music between the following cultures...

    Roman
    Greek
    Barbarian
    Eastern (includes the Carthaginians)
Egyptian (Ptolemaic Empire, for which I used the Greek themed music)

For some of the music, I created a generic group of selections that I used for
all the cultures, such as battle music, battle tension music, and battle loss
music. The victory music I divided into Civilized and Barbarian groups.

If more music is created in the future, that is free of copyright issues, I could
add this to the current selection. If you personally own music that you wish
to add to the current selection, just place your mp3 file in the
Data\sounds\music folder and edit the "descr_sounds_music.txt" file. To hear
your new collection in game, prior to starting your game remember to rename
or delete the "events.idx" and "events.dat" files, or run the "music_reset.bat"
batch file included with this mod.

I hope you enjoy using this mod and that it enhances your enjoyment of
    RTW/RTR.

    -------------------------------------------------
    Installation Instructions:
    -------------------------------------------------
    1. If it exists (due to the use of a previous music mod), make a copy of the
following directory and retain it in case you wish to remove this mod.

    	Rome - Total War\Data\sounds\music

    2. Make a copy of the following file and retain it in case you wish to remove
    this mod.

    	Rome - Total War\Data\descr_sounds_music.txt

    3. Run the install program "Marcus_Camillus_RTR_Music_ReMix_Mod.exe".
Select the install directory to be the directory of your "Rome - Total War" you
wish to install this mod in. (Example: c:\Program Files\Rome - Total War). The
install program will then install this mod.

    4. After the auto installer has finished installing the Marcus Camillus' RTR
Music ReMix Mod, the auto installer will run a "music_reset.bat" batch file. This
batch file will rename any existing "events.idx" and "events.dat" files in your
Rome - Total War\Data\sounds directory (a sub-folder of the one you chose
as an install location) to "events_backup.idx" and "events_backup.dat". This
step must be done to allow the new music to be heard in game. If this is not
done, only the original RTW music will be heard in game. If you install this mod
to a separate folder and then move the files to your RTR install folder, you will
need to manually run the "music_reset.bat" file, or manually rename the above
files yourself. If you wish to remove this mod at a later date, just rename
these 2 files minus the "_backup" part of their name.

    5. Start up your game like normal. Marcus Camillus' RTR Music ReMix Mod is
now available for your in game music. Enjoy!

If anyone has any new ideas, suggestions for improvements or general
comments, they are welcome and can be emailed to
marcus.camillus@beaglepc.net or posted in the forums of Rome
Total Realism or Total War Center.
