    English Redressed 1.1 Update!

    New in 1.1 Update
    - Changed plate texture for upgrades for Armored Swordsmen, English Knights and Feudal Knights amongst others.
    - Added battlemodels_modeldb for Deus Lo Vult Addon 2.1 - English Redressed now compatible with DLV!

    New in 1.0
    - Completely renamed all the files and filestructure for compatibility reasons. You will no longer overwrite the vanilla files with mine. (Except the banners).
    - Rewrote the modeldb-file to reflect the changes in the filestructure
    - Added horsebarding
    - Tweaked some textures, replaced a few textures.
    - Removed modeldb-file for burrek's Knights&Knaves
    - Added text-file specifying all the changes to the modeldb-file - now you can add my textures to any other mod that's out there.

I got bored with the English units so I edited them all for cohesion and uniformity. Also I changed the colourscheme a little and toned the bright reds down.
All the english units that are available in the main campaign have been reskinned or edited, plus general, captains and banners.

    Get it at:

    2. Unrar the data-folder from the archive into your MTW2-directory.
    3. Remember to start MTW2 with "medieval2.exe --io.file_first".

    Thanks to burrek for inspiration.

Edited those plate-textures a bit, to make them look more 'advanced' - also tossed up some more screenshots as requested.
As far as other redressing other factions.. sure - I'm just not sure *which* one. Any suggestions?

Danes, please. Especially the early era units, by giving them more variation and more tribal, viking-legacy looks. I'm thinking abt. mjolnirs, Oden masks, Fenris, tri-horns, runes, drakkars etc.

Q1: Yes, works with burreks_unique - just install my mod *after* you've installed burrek's.
Q2: Yes, LTC does not change any textures.

-- Unrar into the data-folder into the MTWfolder ie. place the data-folder into the MTW2-folder (where there already is a data-folder). Overwrite any files as prompted.

Juggernawt, I have a big problem: I think your skins are awsome!

Ok, but that's not the problem. The problem is, that I also think burreks K&K skins are awsome, too.

The last time I tried to combine your model.db file and his model.db file (well actually it was a model.db file made by Whitewolve containing both his Byzantium Armor Progression as well as burreks Knights & Knaves) the game crashed right at startup. As always when there's a model.db related crash the system log just gave me an "unspecified error".

I wont give up though and wanted to ask if you could help me - us - a little bit.

    One question, one request:

1.) I was very pleased to see that you added instructions on how to manually edit the model.db file in order to integrate your skins. An example:

    Code:
    15 knights_templar
    1 4
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod0.mesh 121
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod1.mesh 900
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod2.mesh 2500
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod3.mesh 6400
    10
    7 england
    77 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/jug_en_lmail_hmail_templar.texture
    82 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/jug_en_lmail_hmail_templar_norm.texture
    47 unit_sprites/england_Knights_Templar_sprite.spr
Nice. BUT: The numbers in front of the paths (I marked one with red above) are different with my model.db file. I changed them by having copied & pasted your lines over the old ones. Maybe that was the reason for the game to crash at startup?!?

So do I have to leave these numbers untouched and just change the patchs behind in order not to break my model.db file?

2.) The request *g*. I'm absolutely sure that just changing the texture lines in my model.db file will result in a number of messed up units. That's because burrek also introduced some new models, for instance for the mailed knights. Your instructions just cover the textures, so with burreks models plus your textures some units will look strange.

So my request is: In your next version could you please also include the lines for the unit models in your "changedMOD.txt"? Thanks in advance.

PS: Of course it would be the best solution - at least for a sluggard like me - if your could make a model.db file covering all three skin packs. Yours, burreks (for all non-english units) and Whitewolves. But of course I'll try to accomplish this myself if you can help me.

/edit: In your version 1.0 readme it says you removed the K&K compatible model.db file...why? Did you have trouble with burrek maybe? ^^

I removed the K&K-compatible file mainly out of lazyness - I couldn't be bothered to make a new one with my renamed textures It was just so tedious work going through the file.

The number you're referring to '59' is the actual stringlength of that line, ie. the number of letters in the path/filename to the model-file.
As I've only changed the textures and not messed around with any models, you should be able to just replace the whole textureblock of the data with my text block.

    Like this:
    Code:
    15 knights_templar
    1 4
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod0.mesh 121
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod1.mesh 900
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod2.mesh 2500
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod3.mesh 6400 10
    7 england
    73 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/EN_Lmail_Hmail_templar.texture
    81 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/EN_Lmail_Hmail_crusader_normal.texture
    47 unit_sprites/england_Knights_Templar_sprite.spr
    Replaced by:
    Code:
    15 knights_templar
    1 4
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod0.mesh 121
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod1.mesh 900
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod2.mesh 2500
    59 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/knights_templar_lod3.mesh 6400
    10
    7 england
    77 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/jug_en_lmail_hmail_templar.texture
    82 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/jug_en_lmail_hmail_templar_norm.texture
    47 unit_sprites/england_Knights_Templar_sprite.spr
I included the model-lines just incase someone had changed the models in their modeldb-file. My textures would look funky on a different model. Once Update 1.2 is out for the game I will do another update with K&K and Byzantine Armor Progression compatibility.

If anyone has made their own modeldb-file to be compatible with any or all of these other addons, please feel free to share them here!

Well, that's exactly what I did. Replaced the whole blocks with your lines.

Last time I tried it took me about half an hour and you are right, this work is stupid. I pasted and copied like I was a machine. Doesn't make fun...

And since I don't why (and where) I messed it up the last time I guess I'll just wait for your update and your compatible model.db file. I'm grateful that you decided to make one eventually.

    Keep up the great work!

    Hi

i can confirm, what Juggernawt reports about the crashes, that appear after you exchange the textureblock. I even made this three times. I installed burrek´s mod, then yours and went on to copy paste the content you indicated in the changedMOD-file.

I noticed two strange things, though.

1.) After the second time i took a closer look to find any differences in the blocks.
Somewhere one of these lines here was broken up in two lines.

    original, after burreks´textures:
    18 mount_barded_horse 1.12 3

what i found in changedMOD and pasted:
    18 mount_barded_horse
    1.12 3

Could that cause the problem? (If that´s a silly question im sorry. I know next to nothing about modding)

2.) I played around a bit with the changedMOD-file and copy-pasted only the english knights on foot-related block. Strangely that worked.
I don´t know if these two facts are useful, i´m just trying to help. (and improve my own game here, of course)

Finally i wold like to use the opportunity to express, how grateful i am for all the effort you modders put in this game. After playing a couple of MTW2 vanilla campaigns i was really dissapointed and lost interest. Then i remembered just what excellent mdding community this game has and started to look for useful mods. And after installing burrek´s textures, ultimateAI, blood&broads&bastards and realcombat i´ve grown fond of it again. Sometimes i wonder, why the developers do not hire enthusiasts like you people.
So, instead of spamming every mod-tread, i say thank you to all of you. Great job.

PS: If you really want to know which action you should remodel, i say take the HRE. Some units are already looking great, but especially the pike- and halberd-militia could use some new textures to resemble the landsknechts a little more. A cuirass and those sliced sleeves maybe? Some other units could also use a bit more black&grey instead of white&yellow. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry for being such newbie , but how do you install these skins, if I unpack the RAR into MIITW where there is already a Data folder; it will be replaced ...entirely !?
Do I have to go to the config file and add
    [io]
    file_first = true

Yes, you unpack it to the data folder.
No - it will only replace files that need to be replaced.
And Yes, you have to add the [io]-thingy to the config-file.

I am anxious to try this mod, but where do I get 1.0? the link above just drives you to the 1.1 download in the downloads section, but no 1.0 link there.
    Thanks.

Sorry if it's confusing. Just go to the 1.0 link in the first post of this thread. There is a link to both the 1.0 and 1.1 on that page.

    Mike13531:
Looking at the screens you posted, I can conlude that my textures are not being used. You need to have a battlemodel.modeldb-file that is compatible with Stainless Steel (if that is the other mod you are using). You *are* however seeing the general and banners, because those just simply replace the default ones.
As I haven't got much free time at the moment I am being forced to delay the next version of this mod.

I *have* started on a total overhaul of the entire mod, looking to incorporate more variety and armorprogression into it.
Plus I'm tossing in another re-textured faction as well. Progress has been slow, however - I just don't have much free time at the moment.

The unit you're wondering about looks like the dismounted english knights.

and can anyone make a battle_model that fits with stainless steel? or does it already fit, i'm not really sure, the banner fit, the general and the rest i'm not sure.
and does this work with 1.2 update?

    and this is nice helmets

but what is with this skirt

and last but most important, of all, you see those red circles that i put on the picture? those are some DAMN ugly helmets, CA just shouldn't have put that thing on in the first place, but can you maybe replace it?
