Hader needs assistance....

I just bought a new game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. , which I played at my freinds house a few times, and decided to buy it today. Well, I began the installation, and part way in, I was told my computer doesnt meet the requirements....for virtual memory I beleive (i have no clue, not an expert on this stuff).

I have a picture, but I have to wait to upload as imageshack is acting up again.....hehe

But it says that my Page File is at 1250 MB, and I cant play because of it. Any ideas?

Am not sure if this will help but this will make the Page File larger or to your choosing and may fix your problem

My Computer - View System Information - Advanced - Performance Tab (Setting) - Advanced - Change then from there you can change your page file

Image May or May not show up

Ok, so I got more RAM, I am now at 1 GB of RAM, well above the minimal requirement for this game. Also, I have installed XP Service Pack 2, also above minimal requirements. I have everything that this game needs, yet, when I launch it, the menu is black, I cant see ****, and ingame, textures are all screwed up. I have spent a lot of time, effort and money trying to get this to work, so any help would be appreciated. I know this really isnt the place for gamees, but I mgetting really frustrated.

Weird.. If I remember the reqs correctly, your graphics card should be above minimum. So I hope this is just the good old driver-problem again.
Do you know what graphics driver version are you using right now?

Hmm, doesnt seem to be working. Could it be my video card? Thing is though, my freinds game works just fine....and he has pretty much the same video card I do I believe.

I wouldnt suspect it being your video card unless other programs / applications arent working as well. How much free hard drive space do you have? and are your drivers completely up to date for you video card? Aside from that, I cannot see why this particular game wont work for you if other games are working. Radeon 9200 isnt really a great card hehe (as the game says it requires) so I would say that If youre playing m2tw with little difficulty you should be able to play this as well.

Alright, would it be possible to change the video settings from the menu? Turn on static lighting and it should run in DirectX 8 mode.
Although if you can't see the menu, it's kinda bad..

Well I dont have M2TW, so I wouldnt know, haha.

I want to try to change setting from the menu, but like I said, no menu is visible....

It's possible to change the settings from the file named user.ltx, which is located in a folder named STALKER-SHOC,
somewhere in the C-drive. Find it, open with notepad, and find a line "renderer renderer_r2" and change to "renderer renderer_r1",
thus enabling DirectX8. Don't know if it helps at all.
This is getting difficult, really.

Anyway, if it doesn't work, I think it's some kind of flaw in the game. Many people on forums were cursing with their 9200's.
I don't know if they'll fix it. Hopefully.

Unfortunetly there is no file of the sort....

Well, guess it might be the video card i will end up replacing, but those are a bit too expensive for me atm...

anyone selling a cheap radeon x1600 pro video card?

Well are you playing on a laptop or a desktop? I just looked at the system requirements and your video card doesn't meet the minimum requirements (ATI Radeon 9600) - you have 9200.

And I am not sure about the whole page file thing. I mean, here you can see that I have mine turned completely off because it's much slower than the RAM and will cause slow-downs.

After a lot of searching, I think I found a good video card. It is a Radeon™ X300SE Video Card. Now from what I read it seems to be good enough for this game.....but Im not sure. Does anyone know if this is better than 9200, and if it will work?

Dude, just get a eVGA 7600GT - that'll run the game fine. I have a friend who plays the game and has this video card. He has no issues.

I dont have that kind of money atm, and it might not even work with my computer. A freind helped me find the perfect on for mine, just a matter of money now.
