    Hyacinth House - The Doors
Ah, one of my favourite songs of L.A. Woman. One can also detect the tone of sadness in Morrison's voice. Manzarek's organ is quite enjoyable. - 5/5

Cry Baby Cry - The Beatles
It's been ages since I last listened to this. Certainly not one of Lennon's best songs and to me it can easily be equated to as filler on the White Album. - 3/5

Anyday - Derek and the Dominos
Don't you love the misspellings and grammatically incorrect song titles of blues numbers? This is one of the best songs on the first side (I hope I'm correct) of Layla, the only annoyance is that it drags on for a bit too long. - 4/5

I Love You Suzanne - Lou Reed
Not a huge fan of Lou Reed, his voice isn't the most appealing, I mostly listen to him for the music and lyrics. - 3/5

    Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
I remember when I first heard this song. I couldn't believe that it was by a punk band. The Talking Heads are the only band of that genre that has distinguishable lyrics and pleasant sounds. 5/5

Sweet Dreams - Marylin Manson: It's kind of a creepy sounding cover of the Eurythmics song. I like the song because it reminds me of playing Doom on my friends computer and it's nostalgic. Besides that it's nothing special and I prefer the original. 2/5

    Delia's Gone - Johnny Cash:
This is one of my favorite Cash songs. It's about a man killing his wife. It's dark and somber, my style. 4/5

Tom's Diner - Susan Vega: This song reminds me of a hypnotic euphoria I often get when I walk down a city street looking at people on a light rainy day. Not just because it mentions rain, but the beat and tone of the song. It's very relaxing. 3.5/5

King Without a Crown - Matisyahu: Very inspiring to me. You can feel the guys spirituality radiating through his music. Powerful presentation of lyrics. Very nice rhythm and unique (or uncommon) sound to the music. 3.5/5

Passing Me By - Pharcyde: This is a great song. It's honest, heart touching lyrics most men/boys can identify with. You are reminded of the innocence you had when you were young because of their high voices and soft delivery that remind you of a child/teenager rapping. It's sample track is just great music, and the mix is very well done. This is a classic of hip-hop music. 4.5/5

(I swear there is more to my music collection than Muse, i just copied a load of albums to my pc today. I'll do another one of these later.)

Map of the Problematique - Muse 5/5
In my opinion one of Muses best ever songs. With its slightly techno drum beat and nature of the song combined with some great guitars and keyboard it has a great feel to it and really gets me going. Has a good beat to it, and is excellent live.

Butterflies and Hurricanes - Muse 5/5
With its opening guitar part merging into the central classic piece with the best piano scores in any Muse song imo, before coming to its moving end, this is one of the best songs from Muses third ablum Absolution. It also has some stirring lyrics, and an excellent use of violins and cellos in the middle section. Some people were worried at first when it was heard that Matt Bellamy was including some classical stuff in Absolution, but this song shows what an excellent song writer he is as it fits perfectly. Not quite as good on the album as it is live.

Darts of Pleasure - Franz Ferdinand 3/5
Not my favourite song on their first album, i much prefer Take Me Out, Dark of the Matinee and 40', but still a good song. Has a good beat to it, and some good guitar bits. Makes me want to dance a bit which is nice as well. But nothing special, though i do like the end bit.

City of Delusion - Muse 5/5
Another favourite of mine(got perhaps 4 of my 10 favourite songs(All Muse of course) in this shuffle). Has a great acoustic intro that flows nicely into the first chorus which has great electric guitar in it with pounding drums and gives it a great energy. The solo bit in the middle(almost every Muse song goes intro, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, chorus) features a nice mix of acoustic guitar and trumpet before rounding out to the end chorus.

Knights of Cydonia - Muse 5/5
My favourite song of all time, ever. I just love this sing so much. It's like a 70's rock song meets Bohemian Rhapsody then both get put through Matt Bellamy's guitar. Think cowboys with lasters with this song. It's quite long at 6.06, but by god its good. Not many lyrics in it, but the early section has a nice pace to it, and good guitar. Things get mind blowingly good when it reaches the chorus. You should have seen this song live at Reading Festival, as over 60000 people sing along to "No one's gonna take me alive...". There is just something about the chorus that lifts you up and wraps you in the song. The chorus is done twice, the 2nd time with things beginning to build up before the riff kicks in and things go apocalyptic. At Reading this was the cue for everyone to go mad. The riff is truly awesome, and from the moment it kicks in the song is just one epic rock song to the end. Seeing this song live is like having you brain blasted into a million pieces by Matt Bellamys guitar, and then having it woven back together buy it whilst you jump around like mad because you must. Totally epic song.

    All Apologies - Nirvana - 5/5
Holy Crap, these guys knew how to make a good song. Kurt's voice is so unique, he really makes this song. Good song if you're sad, happy, whatever.

Mama I'm Coming Home- Ozzy Osbourne - 5/5
Most people just think of Ozzy as Crazy Train. Obviously a very talented man, sings this one perfectly. I forgot who actually wrote this song, but I love it.

    Changes - 2pac- 5/5
Great song back when rap was good. Pretty much all of his songs and talents wrapped up in a ball on this track.

Tender Surrender - Steve Vai- 4/5
    Great guitarist.

    Mr. Roboto - Styxx - 3/5
A line like "Domo arigoto Mr. Roboto" can only carry a song so far. Still pretty fun, however.

    Great thread!

Styrofoam Boots/It's All Nice On Ice, Alright--Modest Mouse
Hehe my favourite song at the moment! I love the band in general, and this song is one of their best. It has two parts, the first with lyrics and guitars but then gets heavy on percussion and it has one of the most catchy beats ever. The other day at work I used pencils to get the tune for a few hours. 5/5

    Collection of Stamps--I'm From Barcelona
Well this was actually the first time I'd heard this song, as I just got the cd! Really like it, it combines upbeat indie sounds with geography! Wow, I'm in a good mood now! Get the cd! 5/5

    To The End--My Chemical Romance
I like the old MCR and can barely stand the new sound. But...this song is old and I think I'm through the phase where I can really enjoy this song. 3/5

    Cato As A Pun--Of Montreal
A great track off their newest album, 'Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?' Catchy indie track from a very unique sounding band. I especially love the vocals. 5/5

    Florida--Modest Mouse
This is a track off their newest album, and I'm liking the cd as a whole so far. The background singing works well in this song, and I'm digging the sound. 4/5

I go through itunes and regularly clear out tracks that I'm not fond of, so my library is smaller than most, but I enjoy nearly all the tracks.

OASIS-Rock 'N' Roll Star (Live at Wembley)
What more can I say other than I was there! Greatest gig ever. The song has a raw passion to it that gets better every time I hear it.

    IGGY POP-Lust for Life
Trainspotting anyone? One of the easiest and best kareoke songs there is. Simple and truthful.

    THE PRODIGY-Spitfire
One of their newer songs. Dance music combined with rock is how I find best to describe it.

    APOCALYPTICA-Enter Sandman
If you like Metalica and you love classical music this is a damn fine combo. It is four celloists (is that the right word?) plaing Metallica. Sounds like it wouldn't work but by god it does.

    THE CRANBERRIES-Zombie
One of my personal favourite songs. Has a s***e load of feeling and a back history of the  up problems that Ireland has dealt with.

    and a 6th because I am greedy!

    HOLST-Mars, The Bringer of War
I tend to play this really loud when a good battle is kicking off on TW. This or the ride of the Valkyries!!!

@William--Zombie is such a great song.

    California Songs--Local H
This band is a Chicago band, and this song isn't their best but it's basically saying that we're sick of LA songs. Favorite part: "Please no more California songs! ...and ******* New York too." Good rock. 4/5

    Peace and Hate--The Submarines
Another great indie song...slow paced but the beat is great to move to. Chorus is amazing. 5/5

Pretty Girls (The Mover) --Against Me!
Great song by a great punk band! Great message and one of my favorites of their most recent release. It's #2 of most played in my library. "There are things you must accept as said and done, there are truths you must learn to confront, you can pray all night and day, you'll always wake the same person in the same place..." 6/5

On A Freezing Chicago Street--Margot & The Nuclear So and So's
Another good indie band! I saw them play this song live a few weeks ago. They have a great mesh of instruments and a unique sound. 5/5

We're All Going to Hell--The Bastard Faries
Love this band, and song. I found them on myspace a bit ago, and you can download their entire album for free on thier main site! They're doing that to make a statement....The song is pretty funny, all about just who is on their way to hell...the dinosaurs are among them! 5/5

    Mmk...I'll wait before posting again

    Iron Maiden - Invaders
Decent song from Number of the Beast. Nice intro work. Song is simple but effective. 3/5

Iron Maiden - No Prayer for the Dying
Title track from (you guessed it, No Prayer for the Dying.) Slower track. It was ok. However Bring your Daughter to the Slaughter is a far better track from this album. 2.5/5

Van Halen - Light Up the Sky
From Van Halen II. Again a decent song. Not the best from the album. It has nice guitar work and even better drum work. The biggest fault is the simplistic vocals. 3.25/5

Cab Calloway - The Best Things In Life Are Free
What can you say. A classic jazz vocal song. Awesome trumpet work in this song (it is jazz of course!) and the piano fits in wonderfully with a nice piece with the back round bass cello. I mean it doesn't cost a quarter! 4/5

    Hypocrisy - Scrutinized
Tägtgren is an awesome vocalist. The lyrics rock. Guitar work is great as typical of their work. A new drummer but Horgh was part of Immortal so you know he is good. 4.5/5

Didn't you hear what Nas said RZZZA? Hip hop is dead.

Isn't Life Strange - Moody Blues
Great song with good lyrics but not my favorite song by them. 3/5

Mrs. Robinson - Simon and Garfunkel
Great song that almost everyone knows, they even drop the Yankee Clipper in here. Still, not their best even if it is their most famous. 4/5

The Load Out/Stay - Jackson Browne
Another great song that I thoroughly enjoy. Switches from a nostalgic, moody tune, to an upbeat one. 4/5

The Wind Cries Mary - Jimi Hendrix
Not my favorite Hendrix song but still solid. Not much else to say. 3/5

    Piano Man - Billy Joel
Probably one of my favorite songs of all time. EVERYONE should sing this song with friends when drinking, guarentees a good time. 5/5

I like this thread, good idea Octavian.

Don't Look Back In Anger - Oasis
The intro on the Piano is reminiscent of Imagine, but it is enjoyable how the band makes the song flow. Definetely one of the better songs of the band, it brings me back to those times of the 90's when Brit-Pop had become fairly popular, good times.. of course, I was growing up, so it could be Nostalgia
    4.5/5

    The Word - The Beatles
Definetely one of their earlier works, the Word (Rubber Soul) is an enjoyable light hearted. It's not one of my favorites, but I would still give it a solid 3.5/5.

On The Road Again (Acoustic - Live) - The Grateful Dead

Part of an excellent acoustic concert they recorded, On The Road Again (Acoustic) is a jewel. The chorus is strong, the lyrics are good, and the instruments bordering perfect. This song earns my 4/5 mark, a silver medal.

Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton

Something about this song has always captivated me. Maybe it is the simplicity of the song, the lighthearted lyrics, who knows. What I do know, is this song is one of the prime highlights of the Eric Clapton album "Slowhand". The solo is very enjoyable , not very fast, fancy etc.
    5/5

Why I Sing The Blues - B.B. King

This has to be one of my favorite B.B. King songs. It also happens to be one of his most mainstream. It features strong lyrics by King, and is one of his many blues songs which can be enjoyed even by listeners who are not big fans of the blues. Why I Sing The Blues is one of his longer(est?) songs, clocking an impressive 8:37. If your a fan of his "Clean Blues" style of guitar, you will love this song. It features many scorching solo's by the one and only, B.B. King.

Hit The Road Jack- Ray Charles
One of Ray's widely known hits. Great vocals with Ray and the girls. 4/5
    Us And Them- Pink Floyd
Very smooth, very chilling piece. The at first timid tenor sax then rising to a great resounding sound sends chills down my neck. 4/5
Foxy Lady- The Jimi Hendrix Experience
In my opinion, a popular hit of Hendrix that is overrated. 3/5
Think Locally, **** Globally- Gogol Bordello
A very rare sound of punk. The multiple instruments and continuous beating of the bass drums gets me pumped. 5/5
I looked At You- The Doors
Not much a fan of this song, I'd rather go with "The End" or "The Alabama Song."

Yawn. Nothing interesting about this song. Just a droning harmonica, vocals that don't sound interesting for the life of you, and a bunch of crude inuendos. 3/5

Badfinger - In The Meantime / Some Other Time
Yes yes yes please. Stinging guitars, an excellent orchestral arrangements, and Joey's best vocals. I'd take this song over pretty much anything ever to happen to anything. 5/5

The Beatles - She's Leaving Home
    Boring. 2/5

The Who - Tea and Theater
Boring (again). A dull and eventless closer to a mediocre album by a band who should just retire already. 3/5

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Little Miss Strange
I always liked this song, I'm not sure why. Maybe because Jimi Hendrix owns you at guitar, or because it's like their only song where Noel and Mitch sing. The only problem is it's too short. 4/5

Apparently I have 2657 songs on the iPod so this is going to be a bit of a shot in the dark (soon to be 2656 see below....)

White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane 5/5
    Brilliant song, trippy and surreal

Power of Love - Jennifer Rush 2/5
Didn't realise this was on here, but brings back brilliant memories of the night a girl I had been chasing for ages finally kissed me, so a 2 for sentimental reasons

    Inroit et Kyrie - Faure:Requiem 5/5
Love the whole of Faure's Requiem so glad one popped up. Great chilling out music - Sunday morning in bed with a great mug of fresh coffee, my beautiful wife and the papers (of course - doesn't happen nowadays with kids, can't complain too much though, it was the cause of the first one.....)

Loch Lomond (Live) - Runrig 10/5
The best jump-up-and-down-and-go-mental song there has ever been. Starts slow and then about 3 minutes in starts going doolally.

How the hell we all survived on the balcony at the Barrowlands when this was playing (the whole balcony was moving up and down by several feet) I'll never know. Has been the backdrop to several mental moments at parties all over the world

    Inside - Stiltskin 5/5
Love the start (classical) then the guitars come in. Plus the lyrics are just fanstastic. Only weak bit is the chorus but I can forgive that for the rest.

Swing low in the darkless hour
You turn and cower, see it turned to dust
Move on the stoned dark night
We take to flight, snowfall turns to rust
    Seeing in the fusion light
like a nursing rhyme, fat man starts to fall
Here in a hostile place I hear your face start to call
And if I think that I've been losing my way
    That's because I'm slightly blinded
And if you think that I don't make too much sense
    That's because I'm broken minded

    Don't keep it inside
    If you believe it
    Don't keep it all inside

Strong words in a gange sky I have to lie shadows moving past
Ring out from the blue sports car in the shooting yard looking to the task
Out of the black slate time we're moving line but never reach an end
Falling along straight town as the ice comes down river starts to bend
And if you think that I've been losing my way
    That's because I'm slightly blinded
And if you think that I don't make too much sense
    That's because I'm broken minded

So, no KT Tunstall (Black Horse and the Cherry Tree is a great song), Verve, Oasis, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Garbage, ABBA, Artic Monkeys, Fratellis

    Spitfire-Prodigy
A change from the norm of Prodigy to a more heavier sound, a Good change.

    Vermillion-Slipknot
Likewise a change for Slipknot, a better change.

    Schism-Tool
A true insight in to the fracture nature of the world, I also like the referance to the Tower of Babel.

    Stinkfist-Tool
Also know a track #1 because of the obvious. Quite a interesting, how deep does the layering go or is it just superficial, I still can't tell, good song though.

    Bitter Sweet Symphony-Verve
A true testament to the genius of Verve, and their unique sound and style. Plus the video is quite good.

    Ok, here I go:

    Bodies performed by Sex Pistols
This song is plainly a typical punk song, since it's from the great Pistols... I love the lyrics, it's the humour I love, it also sounds nihilist sometimes... And since I'm generally in favour to abortion (please don't comment now this subject, lol) I also aprove the song, hehe. A vandalistic and anarchist energy to fill in my veins. 9/10

I Wanna be Your Lover performed by Prince
Well, once I heard "Purple rain" and thought I'd love the rest of Prince's things. But I don't, it isn't not really my genre... This one's even classified as R&B and R&B is always comercial for me, but fairly Prince's not. 6,9/10

Lift me Up performed by Moby
I kinda apreciate hearing this song, strangely it's one of those songs I hear on Hard Rock Cafe very often, hehe. I like some of Moby's songs more than this one, like In this World. 7/10

    Woman performed by Wolfmother
This sure prooves how a band nowadays can inovate music, being revival. I love this song, specially the vocals, remind me of Black Sabbath, specifically Ozzy. The lyrics are also good, but could be better anyway. This one's featured on the amazing game called Guitar Hero II. 8,5/10

Of Montreal performed by The Stills
Indie has been always a genre I fully respect. And this song is part of it, typical representative of the indie scene that many people don't know however. The beggining of the music is really cool I think. 7/10

The conclusion I take is that the Sex Pistols won this post of mine, hehe.

This is a nice thread idea.

    Here goes:

    1. All Things to All Men, by The Cinematic Orchestra:6:06. Six minutes of delicious soundscapes, woodwinds & strings, slow, groovy beats and a subtile buildup to a great climax. Perfect music to sit back, close your eyes and discover the hidden surprises in it. Was rated 5 stars on my iPod.

    2. The Treason of Isengard, by Howard Shore: 4:02. What can I say. Part of the soundtrack of "The Fellowship of the Ring". Brings back vivid images of the first time I saw that film at the Cinema and when I went to listen to it live in Antwerp by the Flemish Radio Orchestra conducted by the master (Shore) himself. Beautiful orchestration. Most notable is the overwhelming mixed choir at the end of the piece. You may recognise it in the film as the scene in which Gandalf duels Saruman. Rated 3 stars

    3. New Life, by Eddie Roberts: 7:02. Eddie Roberts is still quite new in my collection. Features groovy guitar, piano & drum work along with electronica influences. Not his best work, but it digests well enough.
    Rated 2 stars

4.Die Schöpfung: Die Vorstellung der Chaos, by Joseph Haydn: 5:25 Three words: Haydn pwns n00bs. Delicious slow buildup to a climax that doesn't want to come. Almost chambermusic at the beginning. Typical of Haydn are the small virtuosities hidden away everywhere in his music (aka Haydn-humor). I like the clarinet-work as well.
    Rated 4 stars

    5. Introitus of the Missa Pro Defunctis, by Orlandus Lassus: There was a time when Flemish music was the top. Orlandus Lassus is in my opinion the very top of that top. Combines all the elements I love in Flemish Polyphony to one ever flowing and ever changing delight to the ears. Recommendable execution by the Hilliard Ensemble.

All in all, a nice selection of my musical tastes. Luckily, it didn't force me to uncover some of my more "guilty pleasures"

    Set Up - Nas 4/5

On of the best tracks on Nas' second album It Was Written, his flow, microphone presence and of course lyrics are great, as is the hook. The beat is a bit simplistic and repetitive though.

    Thelonious (Take 1) - Thelonious Monk 4.5/5

A very solid jazz track, of a great album called Underground. It is rather fast paced and the piano is as amazing as on any other Thelonious track. Not the type of jazz track that you can just relax to though, since the track keeps you constantly aware.

Outro (Red Bandana) - The Game 4/5

This track from the mixtape Stop Snitchin', Stop Lyin', that consists mostly of disses towards the Game's former crew g-unit, is a very refreshing track. The beat is amazing, and Game proves that he can do flow fast as well as slow, the lyrics are witty for a diss. There's a bit too much **** talking at the end of the song though, and the hook is nothing special.

    Supersonic - Oasis 5/5

Oasis' album Definitely Maybe is most definitely one of the best rock albums from the 90'ies (yes, better than their second album What's the Story, Morning Glory), and the track Supersonic is the best track on the entire album. I consider this track to be sort of a holy grail of Britpop. This is definitely a track that you should hear before you die.

Letter To My Unborn Child - Tupac 5/5

No rapper has ever managed to put as much emotion to a track as Tupac did, it doesn't matter if he isn't the lyricist that Nas is or hasn't the Jay-Z flow, he doesn't need that. This track has a great concept and a very good hook, and you should definitely listen to this track even if you don't normally listen to rap.
