Problems with running M2TW mods with Steam!

I need help running the "medieval2.exe --io file_first" thingamabob with Steam.

I now regret ever downloading it through that program.


Anyway, I try to run the file that has that extension listed above, but then the computer says it can't find steam, and then launches it me to the steam website.

Is there any way to fool the computer perhaps?

Any help would be appreciated.

That's all I got. I don't use Steam. Nor will I ever from all the issues I've heard.
