Mods work like portvcale but vanilla won't

I'd suggest you re-install M2TW. Some mods replace files in the games data directory and these may have an impact on the vanilla game. That's my best advice, sorry there isn't an easier way...

Alternatively, you could go through all the files and sort them by "Date Modified", and try to figure out which file was changed recently that broke things, if you know how Medieval2 modding works.
