sparta tattoo or barbed wire tattoo

ive always wanted a tattoo, and now i am 18 and do not need any parental consent i was thinking which one, i am stuck with two choices, the first one would be like the picture below, the barbed wire tattoo



the 2nd tattoo i was thinking of was the spartan symbol "A" (greek symbol for "L") i couldnt find an image on the net (if anyone could would be great)



which one would you prefer?

I worked for 6 years at a tattoo shop, and dude, DO NOT get a barbed wire tattoo. It's so cliche and everyone has it, go for some custom work. A nice Spartan tattoo would be nice in my opinion, I'd go for that.

I'm heavily tattooed but havent been worked on in a few years. I've been tossing around the idea of a simple "SPQR" tattoo. Since I'm so into ancient Roman history and all. My inner thigh is going to be the senate scene of Julius Caesars assassination, all in a nice soft black and grey style. Ouch, I'm dreading that one hehe.

Lambda would be the way to go.

Yeah I'm just doing it for myself really, but, tattoos in those areas make great conversation pieces during, after or before sex. heheh

Think about it first of all and do some research. Not to put you off but I was going to get a lambda until I looked around a little bit. LINK.LINK. I know the first link is not a capital letter but please think about it!

Dont be so cliche by getting a barbed wire tattoo.

Why would you get a lambda? Do you belong to a fraternity called Lambda Lambda Lambda? Are you a member of the Macedonian royal family?

Tattoos are a completely pointless waste of money.

Both are cliche. Get something close to you. My friend has a cross with his dead bro's initials on it. Something like that.

If this is you first, I recommend a small one as a large and elaborate tattoo is very hard to keep clean and chance of infection is higher.
For a location on the body I recomend the underside of the forearm, as the skin there won't sag and the pain is quite mild...and enjoyable actually.

Go big or go home.

Get a dragon tattoo. Turn your entire right arm into a huge green scaly dragon, draw little eyes and some bad ass looking horns on your knuckles, and have your fingers be the teeth. Then when you punch people it'll be like a dragon bite.

Make your left hand into a different dragon and they can have little wars between themselves.

or you can make them tongue kiss or do the nasty.

Barbed wire tattoo's are lame and sooo 90's.
I also hate these 'tribal tattoo's' that everyone seems to have nowadays.

Obviously the white helmet would be black to show up better on the skin.

Gosh that looks just terrible, if you want a cool tatoo just do what the Samoans do.

for the sake of all that is holy, DO NOT get the barb wire tattoo. That is reserved for biker chicks and general trailer trash (and the occasional American college student who got really drunk and decided it would be "tot..hiccup..allerly awshsome dooodsh")

Heh, I never thought about it, but that George Carlin quote that somebody posted.... Imagine that, walking around with a piece of real barbed wire around your arm... That would be so awesome, lol.

Anyways, as far as tattoos go, please, please, just make sure you know -entirely- the meaning behind whatever it is you are getting. For instance, don't get a Lambda just because 'The Spartans had it and they were cool in the 300'... Make sure you understand fully just wtf a Lambda represents.
Same goes for text in other languages...an overly popular one is the japanese symbols... Make sure you know exactly what it means before you get it, or else you'll wind up with "I like penis" on your arm.

That's why, as mentioned, its far better to get something custom. You'll control its meaning.

I'd get a lambda over a barbed wire tattoo anyday. And for the love of God, if you ever get another one, don't get one of those stupid Japanese symbol things. If you wrote the word strength on your should in English, would you look cool? No, you would look retarted, yet once it's turned into a Japanese of Chinese symbol, it's suddenly awesome? I hate them...

Don't get a lambda, especially considering you don't seem to know much about it. It's also a very cliche symbol. If you want Sparta-related designs, there are better and lesser-known ones, such as the dokona.

Just incase you didn't know Lamda is a calling sign for homosexuals around the globe and is now a homosexual symbol for gay organizations around the globe.

The LGBT symbol is lower case, the Lakedemonian symbol was in upper case.
