Out of pure curiosity...what was the very first full-convresion mod for Rome: Total War?

I'm not talking skinpacks, formations, or small gameplay tweakers but full-conversion mods like RTR, EB, and Roma Surrectum.

That's a good question, though even the definition of full conversion might be open to debate.

Even now, there are not really many full conversions out - if by that you mean a totally new map, new units, new portraits, new cultures etc. : those that are out are either limited in scope or still heavily drawing from vanilla and therefore not really total conversions.

I'm sure someone else will chip in...

Well, it depends on your terms. If we assume EB has had the most work out into it of all mods (which it may well have) it's still debatable as to whether it is a full conversion. It uses many vanilla aspects still - but then, to a far lesser extent, so does FATW.

Maybe someone will come up with some wonderful definitions - I think NTW2 is a good example of a truly full conversion (though of only the tactical side of the game).

Maybe someone should devise a list of 50 elements or so and you only qualify for full conversion if you've modded more than 40 of them

I believe...RTR 5.x would have been the first full conversion. I am unsure. I honestly can't remember at this point if I played 4.x...

Ok, ok...since some ppl think that what I meant by "full conversion" is debatable I'd like to state what I consider to be a full conversion mod:

Basically I consider a mod to be one if it provides new units, new buildings, new or improved factions, new skins, a larger/different/or smaller map, or just a completely new subject matter.

For examples these mods are what I consider to be FCs:

    Roma Surrectum
    Europa Barbarorum
    SPQR - TW
    Iberia - TW
    FA - TW
    Rome - Total Realism
    Rise of Persia
    XGM

In other words I do not count smaller, tweaker mods like the formations mods, balancing mods, or simple skin packs. Do we have a better understanding now?

EDIT: Also keep in mind when considering the question of who came first that I'm not talking about whose mod was THOUGHT up first but rather whose mod was OUT first.
