    Default Stripped-Down Mod Folder

    Update II 04/29/07

Version 1.1 also contains stripped names and banners

    Version 1.1: Download

    Update 04/29/07

This is now the stripped-down mod folder, or if you want the stripped-down map 2.0

The stripped down mod folder is a small side project that I made to have a clean base for total conversion mods.
I annihilated a lot of stuff from the vanilla game so you can easily start adding your own factions, etc.
    What I stripped was:
    - Cultures
    - Factions
    - Units
    - Map (including script, events)
    - Buildings (including guilds)
    - Rebel Factions
    - Faction standing
    - Ancillaries
    - Traits
    - Advice
    - Missions

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Well, I made a stripped-down map for testing purposes (to eliminate as much bad stuff as possible) and thought it might be useful for some of you.

It disables all factions except for England, and has only one province (North_America) plus a lot of water. You can also use it to create new maps from scratch, so have fun

Here's a screeny of the regions map so you know what to expect (notice the wee island on the lower left):

What a simple but useful idea. Excellent for new mappers who just want to practice stuff. Good job.

Update on the first page. Could some mod change the thread title to "Stripped-Down Mod Folder" please?

    Hi alpace

I desided to start from scratch so reinstalled M2TW.

I'm trying to create a stripped down mod so i can convert the Fourth Age:Total War campain map to M2TW, my original attempt failed then i was told about your Stripped Down Mod, which soulds perfect.

Well it works out of the box in a mod folder for me, but with a crash when I exit the game (don't ask me why it does that, there's worse things than crashing on exit)

Hmm you should use 1.2, I didn't test it with the official one but compiled it using the leaked one.

i tried adding it to the older one and thats when it crashes before start up. I was hoping to replace your basic map with the middle earth one, but when it crashes the logs reveal nothing. Also the MTW2 mod folder i downloaded also gets ignored when i run it (ie reverts back to vanilla)

I get CTD whenever it loads up. I have just your stripped down files in my mod folder and I'm running 1.1.

There was a typo in "imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt".
After changing "Americ" to "America", my ctd while loading was fixed, but I am still getting a ctd when loading the camp map about 1/5th into the loading bar.

Hmm remove everything except for the text/imperial_campaign... and the world folder and you'll only have the map left. Try running that and see what happens.

That did the trick. Any chance you can check out the other files for errors? I would do it myself but I'm very far behind schedule on my mod.

Wow, it actually worked after I followed Shiftey's hint on "Americ". Thanks, the first time something worked to me in modding.

alpaca: How did you get most of the map water? My map keeps crashing and I think it's because there is 3 times more water than land, but I can't change it otherwise it won't look like a world map.

You need to have a certain number of regions on your map, the water is not the problem (I think there's a maximum number of tiles per region).
Anyways, the mod folder works for me in 1.21. The file structure changed a bit from 1.1 to 1.2 I guess so it may not work with 1.1

Ok, well I re-did all my maps and it compiled fine. When the loading bar for the campaign goes 100% an error message occurs about an unspecified error.

If I post my maps can you tell me what I have wrong that might be causing the error? It might be the region tile limit you're talking about because I only have 1 region set up atm for testing purposes.

Then add more... It's normally nearly impossible to tell what's wrong from just looking at stuff.
