    Please try only adding a part of the map at a time, that can often tell you a lot about errors you may have made.

    bella try looking through your edb file and look for anything that might be out of place with the end of the lines that have this:

    requires factions { "faction name/culture", }

    inside the {} each faction name or culture name must end with a "," and a space, i've had an issue like that before and that was the cause. also do a search for notepad 2 and download that, it makes finding the line and columns easier.

    I'm using Alpaca's stripped down mod folder package on this. One faction (england) with one region (North_America).

    Oh it works fine out of the box. It's just when I add my map files in, that's when the problems start. I've got experience building a map from scratch with his old Stripped down map pack he did. Everything worked fine there. But with this other map I'm working on, these problems pop up.

    well, if all that is one region, it's probably crashing because of that. i had that problem when i first started making maps. i think it has something to do with the region continuity or something.

    That's the thing though. In my other campaign map, the situation is similar. A large portion of Europe and Africa, and a large portion of the Americas to the west. All of it was one region when I started with it and it worked fine.

    well, i'm stumped. if it's producing your map.rwm file then your files are definitely the correct dimensions. that was pretty much my last suggestion to add more regions since that always worked for me. but if it's worked before for you like that, then i honestly don't know. sorry man.

    Ahh well. I'll see if Alpaca has any idea what's going on. Either way, thanks for helping me weed out what it couldn't be.

    + rep for the help.

    Yeah I forgot to remove the cultures from EDB, you'll have to delete all except northern european, or replace it with "all", that's why you get these error messages.
    Your real problem though is probably the limit on tiles per region that seems to be active. Basically, once you make your region too large, it'll crash. They apparently removed that for the sea region but it's still there for land regions.
    So add a few more regions and you should be fine.

    Do you mean replace it with southern european? That's the only culture you have in desc_cultures.txt.

    Just to make sure I'm doing this right, I'm replacing:

    Code:
    wooden_pallisade city requires factions { northern_european, mesoamerican, middle_eastern, eastern_european, greek, southern_european, }
    with...

    Code:
    wooden_pallisade city requires factions { all, }
    Doing that, though, causes the game to CTD as soon as the splash screen shows up.

    Yeah sorry I meant southern_european. What you did should work, did you replace the requirements for all the levels above that with "all" too?

    Yes, anywhere I saw requires factions, mine now reads:

    requires factions { all, }

    Still CTD'ing as soon as the first splash hits.

    I also tried it with:

    requires factions { southern_european, }

    That didn't work either.

    Well it works for me, can't really say what's the problem :hmmm:
    Maybe you changed something else?

    Ok, I'm making it further than the splash screen. But now I'm getting the CTD on the loading screen. About 5-10% into the loading bar. Same error reported in the log. The quirky thing is this though. When I first loaded up my new campaign map with the minimal mod folder files, this CTD happened. So I went into my maps/base and deleted map.rwm and retried it. Then it worked perfectly. I didn't change any files. It worked fine for several loads. Now, without having made any changes, it's back to the CTD at the loading screen again, giving the same cultures error in the EDB file.

    update: and now it's back to crashing at the initial splash screen. frustrating isn't even the word.
