    Default Attack & Defence bonuses

    Just at the turn of 1200, I managed to get 3 swords, and I am not sure how I acquired 2 of them. They just appeared in the general's retinue.

    What does Attack & Defence bonuses from the sword do?

    Do they just affect the general's bodyguard unit, or something else?

    My guess is the attack and defence traits apply directly to your general and not to his entire bodyguard, your general has more hit points than each of his bodyguards individually, so this does make sense, the swords which increase attack and defense will just increase your general's attack and defense.
