    Default "Inspire civil war" problem!

I started a campain with scots, and have a really good time with this mod, everything was ok, I invaded England and won 4-5 battles or sieges... then suddenly my king (he was a great king with everything from medium to high, and a lot of good traits) get the "Inspire civil war" trait, and ALL my best generals (4 of them, even some with high loyalty) get the "rebel" trait.

what I'm I supposed to do?

The rebels generals can't almost move and i've no way to kill them (no assassin), and their sons will be rebel too then what? kill the king, and what else? lead an orde without generals?

It's a shame this is a really god mod, but it's ruined by this "rebel attitude".

sorry if my english is not correct, and thank in advance for any answer.

First off let me say that this is the best mod for M2 I have yet played, great job. I have the same problem with a french campaign I'm on. On the year 1232, about halfway through my kings reign he got the Inpires civil war trait almost out of nowhere. He is the direct grandson of my first king and had a son of his own, but was too young when my current kings father died so my current prince is a future regent. My prince and one other general, out of 7, were the only ones that that remained loyal, and when the kings son came of age he became a rebel and I lost a very nice army. And he was the product of some extensive marriage alliances and had great potential. On the next version, at least reverse this and have a few rebel while the most remain loyal.

I would not say get rid of this, i like the idea of the whole civil war thing my advice would be:
    - to give more clear indications of what causes it, perhaps an in game notice for when the war actually breaks out
-not have the trait obtained so easily, apart from my starting king in each campaign all but one of my other kings have gotten the trait
-the generals should rebel quickly and raise rebel armies or take armies and settlements that they command/govern from one's faction (not sure if this happens but had a few generals with the "Rebel!" trait and they havn't raised any armies or took any settlements, i did give them a good few turns to do so). Rather than wait for the "Rebel!" trait, when a general obtians the "disobeys his liege" trait there should be a % chance that he will rebel at the end of any turn, based on other armies in the area, or weakly defended settelments, and there should be the oppertunity to make him loyal again, e.g. marrying him to a princess or giving him certain titles.

Edit - never meant to get that carried away, with that amount of typing it looks worse than it actually is, sorry, it's a good mod, those are just a few suggestions. What does everyone else reckon of these civil war traits?

First indication is your Faction Leader gets the trait "Offends the Nobility". This trait precedes "Inspires Civil War". And there is a Faction Announcement provided when the Faction Leader "gains" either of these traits.

The only way to rid the faction leader of "Offends the Nobility" in DLV2.0 is for the Faction Leader to have a high Chivalry...otherwise, Civil War is just a matter of time. With Civil War, those generals with pre-Civil War loyalty of >5 will become more loyal (dedicated royalists) while those with loyalty <=5 will join the rebellion (and their loyalty will plummet).

In the upcoming DLV2.1, I've provided another means for the player to take positive action to head off civil war, here's how it works:

If your King is in the capitol, is crowned & and has Authority >5*, there is a % chance each turn that he will lose the trait "Offends the Nobility".

Nobles that have the trait "Disloyal" must travel to the Capitol to seek an audience with the King to receive a pardon (to get rid of the "Disloyal" trait).

If they end their turn in the capitol, and the King is present, there is a % chance each turn that they will be pardoned (lose the trait "Disloyal"). However, there is also a % chance that the disloyal Noble will receive the trait "Thrown in the Dungeon"...essentially immobile + other bad traits, until released (% chance of release each turn, with average stay in the Dungeon being 5 years -- 10 turns).

*There is a new trait "At the Seat of Power" that gives Faction Leaders +1 Authority when they end their turn in the capitol. Crown, Heraldic Titles, Legendary Swords and winning battles can all boost Authority to reach the required level.

Conditions which cause civil war are in the Blood, Broads and Bastards readme.txt which ships with DLV2.0.

    Cheers! dd

    That sounds interesting.

I don't like this part. I mean it's ok with the crown part but idea of keeping your king in capitol is something that I don't like.

I'really don't understand why you made this, why a King with high dread should not be able to reign?

A lot of the great kings in history had no chivalry at all and never faced civil war.

THe only solution I see to this "problem" is killing the king as soon as that trait appear, even if he is young and strong... (with those titles is really difficult to keep general's loyalty >=6)

Is there a way for us to edit and remove this?:hmmm:

    thanks

I like the idea behind the inspires civil war, it was just, in my case at least, too extreme. That sounds like some great ideas for the next version, I would only have one problem with it, I can never get my king the crown. The only one who had it was my first king, with Joyeuse sp?, so before he died i sent my prince to Rheims to wait him out and then to Paris after his death and I never got the crown or sword. Nor has my next king who is in Paris now. And the last time I saw the sword, it was in the possession of a HRE general I spied on in Metz.
