Your difficulty/ AI's wealth
What difficulty does everyone use?
For one campaign i played as the english, i used vh/vh, got on fine, the AI did not expand very rapidly and battles were a challenge, the devestation was as it was in Deus lo Vult 2.0, i had not lowered it to how it was in vanilla at this point, i had southampton, york, london, nottingham, caen, bruges, antwerp, and tara (dublin). I had yet to go enagage in a significant war with an AI faction, france briefly declared war on me, after a couple of turns though we declared a ceasefire, (i was going bankrupt), and they had boundless wealth and a load of full stacks. I then lowered the devestation and found i had a lot more money, but so did the AI, but this did not come to much.
With the devestation still lowered i started a new campagin as the english, on vh/vh this time the AI began to expand very quickly, portugal taking bordeaux and rennes, scotland taking york, france taking bruges and antwerp. I on the other hand only managed to take southampton and was no were near as rich as they were. I declared war on scotland, i was confident at first but they a load of militia and hired welsh longbows, so it came down one battle, it did not go my way and i could see i had no chance.
I think vh/vh at the moment is too tough, what does everyone else think? What is your difficulty setting and how well do you cope? have you been invloved in any wars?

I think I am more of a passive player.I slowly conquer stuff (mostly rebel settlements) and build everything up....Basically after 200 turns I'll have like 15 provinces and 40 battles; 30% of which were naval confrontations
.Since the AI betrays me enough on that setting, I don't think I'll be making it harder anytime soon.

Re: Your difficulty/ AI's wealth
I'm playing the English VHVH and I'm expanding, but slowly, and I've yet to fight any power. I can see about six nearly full stacks of Scots sitting along my border, in the field! If I sent everything I have, including the full stack I keep in Caen to watch the French, I could manage about half their force. How the Scots manage that with three provinces I cannot say. I assume they are not paying "field costs."
I'm not going to tell you I've mastered DlV at VHVH. It's just too early to say. But I can say that with the devastation costs from all the brigands I've suffered from (even without the devastation bug costs), the associated field costs suppressing them, and the inability to raise taxes above normal without even more uprisings, I cannot get a cash cushion together to campaign offensively, let alone support a long siege.

Re: Your difficulty/ AI's wealth
Your situation sounded exactly like the first one i described, can't get enough wealth together to attack anyone on vh/vh wouldn't be able to cope with a war so i left that campaign, then decided to give it another shot but i didn't stand a chance. gonna try it on h/h, i want a challenge during battle, which vh/vh provided, but not to the point were it gets ridiculous e.g. peasants taking on armoured swordsmen and the AI having tens of full AI stacks.
By the way i'm not bashing deus lo vult, (but i do think the AI's wealth needs to be addressed) i'm just advising people not to try for vh/vh, i enjoyed the gameplay but realised i'd be stuck, to weak to sustain a full scale war in the position i was in, against opponents of such strength, so i wouldn't enjoy the game as much. Although i did have fun crusading against the moors, but i didn't share borders.

Re: Your difficulty/ AI's wealth
You can change the AI wealth accumulation quite easily. The AI gets about 1000 per settlement per turn in 'free money'. If you take this number down to about 200 or so, this will keep the AI to skyrocketing to 200K in only a couple of turns.
I don't know for sure where this number can be found, but I think it is the campaign script that does this.
You can also go into settlement mechanics and lower some of the SIF values, so it will be harder for the player and AI to accumulate wealth as I think it is far too easy for the player as well.
