    Default Over Rated Films

There are many fantastic films out there that satisfy the needs of specific individuals. Then there are those films that everyone likes and to not like it appears to be blasphemy! I know I might have just opened Pandora's Box with this topic but **** happens. Personally I hate ET! It is one of the most disappointing films I have ever seen. Before I saw it everyone said you will love it, I love it so you will but I just don't see what they are getting at. The plot is slow and dull and I know they did the best with the special effects they had a the time but they simply shouldn't have bothered in the first place. Just to show I can be on the other side of the fence the Godfather is a fantastic film but many do not like it and say the same as what I have just said about ET (They are wrong though)! What films do you think are over rated?

An Inconvienient Truth. It is jumbled and contains far too much irrevelant information. Also, Al Gore's attempts at humor are just annoying.

I heard a lot of people who absolutely loved Sideways.

I saw it and was underwhelmed.

Napoleon Dynamite NOT funny, NOT interesting, NOT entertaining. It was basically just 90 minutes of some idiot making up bull***t about hunting wolverines, being a master of 'numchucks' as he put it, drawing things badly, and breathing through his mouth. And worst of all, everyone I knew thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. People! The movie had no plot! Even a comedy needs a story. This was just 90 minutes of mind-numbing footage of Idaho. I should find Jared Hess and punch him in the throat for making such a bad film and calling it funny. God I hate Napoleon Dynamite.

I also find the Saw trilogy to be extremely overrated. Now don't get me wrong, I can enjoy a good horror. This was not a good horror. This was 100 minutes of people being tortured and dying in grotesque fashion. There's a difference, you know, between entertaining horror, and the sicko stuff in Saw. I think anyone who does enjoy Saw or its sequels is probably some sort of sadist, or just enjoys watching people in pain. How can human beings actually enjoy watching people get tortured by a serial killer for an hour and 40 minutes! Not entertaining, just sickening.

I actually thought the first saw was quite good with the situation with the 2 people that have to convince one another(and on some level theirselves) in an extreme situation.

I'll admit the second one was just an hour and a half of mindless torture.

yeah I prefer the ones you either can/must think about like videodrome, the cube.
or the silly ones like evil dead: Army of darkness.

A film which disapointed me was Erik the viking, but nobody ever said he was good so... .

Aye, and subtle horror is so much more effective.

Amen to that! +Rep for knowing the truth. I was so much more horrified by the subtle, somehow cultured brutality of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs than I ever was about Jigsaw's obession with "Appreciating life"

On the topic of the horror, the Blair Witch Project is perhaps the most overrated horror film of all time. Oh my god! A bloody rag on the ground! SCARY! OH GOD! Figures made of sticks! HORRIFYING.

Sarcasm aside, it wasn't scary at all. It was a cool concept, not ever seeing the monster thing, but it wasn't very well executed on the part of the director.

The Matrix trilogy I find particularly tedious. Also LotRIII and anything with Nick Cage in.

    Goodfellas.
I hate it so much. I think it is a pointless film fronted by a pretty poor actor (Peshi). I don't mind violent films with lots of swearing at all, but when it comes to this film I just think it is a gimmick used to shock you into thinking it must be some kind of masterpiece.

Agreed. The plot was pretty weak overall. Acting was substandard, even when you had some who normally play some good roles.

I just want to amend my initial post in that the Godfather is a fantastic film, 2 and 3 are ***** and live only because of the glory from the original.
