    Default Abolishment of "voted"

So we have had for some time now part of the Syntagma reading "Subsequent posts in this thread, are limited to notification of having voted."

This means we know have a number of posts in each vote thread... that serve no purpose. I post "voted" too, mostly out of habit. But is it really anything but spam? Therefore, I replies to the thread should be limited to all but the Curator. This is easy enough from a admin prespective.

I see no reason why we have 20-25 useless posts in every vote thread. Thoughts?

I support unless people are allowed to post other comments regarding their vote and others, as I believe all votes should be open anyway.

Sure there is nothing great that comes out of posting 'voted', but what harm comes out of it? None. Besides, its sometimes funny to see how people post their 'voted'. Its just a little tradition. It doesnt hurt anyone....but if a few posts really distract you from looking at a dang poll, then whatever.

I'm not a big fan of spam. You could say spam really doesn't hurt anyone, but I wouldn't advise running a forum based on that premise.

Not true at all. If spam didn't hurt the forum, then it would be fine to allow it. The reason that we don't allow spam, is that it clogs up the forum and takes attention away from more serious threads. In contrast, posting to say that you have voted has no negative effect on the forum. There is no reason to get rid of it whatsoever.

In short; it would be nothing short of absurdly disproportionate heavyhandedness, to disallow this long kept tradition. I challenge anyone, to put forward even a mildly sensible reason for not having it - I suggest that one will not be found.

I agree with this fully. IT seems people are complaining about saying 'voted' in the votes thread mainly for something to talk about

it would seem you have been promoted TBN... are you to be our new chief moderator?
I hope you are not one of the people who have with to get rid of the traditional 'voted' in the votes threads on the basis that its spam.

I like being able to post 'voted' as it shows which polls I have voted on, which is quite handy. So I don't support this for convenience.

its nice to see some of the inventive and sometimes pompously long winded (see my comments on garbs ratification) ways people manage to say "voted"

I think I started some discussion on this a little while ago as well as I wasn't sure what it was all for.

After a few of the recent multiple votes (ratification and members awards) I did realise that at least one useful purpose was showing which threads you'd voted on without having to re-enter each ( for those others afflicted with indecision or poor memory ).

Although it apparently doesn't happen at moment, if converse suggestion was applied and everyone voting asked to post it would give idea of demography of those participating - to show if we are missing out on any group to large extent.

I seriously doubt anyone posting after voting in curia does so for post count - but that could always be disabled in CV forums if spam quotient is seen as issue.

To be quite honest, posting 'voted' does no harm at all, infact it does good, it immediately informs that you have voted, so no one can accuse us civs of not using our right to vote any more. But, why should we care enough?

The overall vote count inherent in the poll is a far better indicator of the Civitates as a whole than the number of replies. If a single individual was accused of such, it would be quite easy for an administrator to cross-check for the Speaker of the House.

I regularly post 'voted' when I vote - I think its important that people should be able to state that they have voted.

I am sorry, but I meant civitates, and only civs, not patricians as well, or staff for that matter. We used to be accused of not taking advantage of our priviledges. At least if we can post 'voted' it shows we care.

Either allow free discussion inside the vote threads or disable posting there as a whole.

    I support.

Agree, and support either one. The posts are really spam, unless the poster wishes to give out what he voted on.

Support. Why do we need to have people posting voted, when we can see by vote totals how active they are? Why do we need any such mechnaism beyond the simple button being pushed to actually vote? It seems silly.
