    Default Suggestions Re: Sicily

I’ve been playing the more popular (more downloaded) mods for MTW II and have concluded that Deus Lo Vult is the best (for my tastes). I have a few recommendations.

Sicily should be three provinces—Palermo, Messina, and Syracuse. Palermo should be a city, along with Messina, and Syracuse a fortress. The Palermo province should be overwhelmingly Muslim, Messina Roman Catholic, and Syracuse Orthodox.

The population of Palermo in 1100 AD was almost 80,000, twice that of London. In your mod the population of London is 3800 and Palermo 4000. So I’d recommend doubling Palermo’s population to 8000, along with making it a city.

I’d also like to make an appeal for a version of the mod that would begin in 1080, instead of 1180. I know how to change the start date and get the events back on line. I'm not sure whatever other files you changed to suit the 1180 start date. I know that Toledo should be Muslim.

    Great job.

I like the historical accuracy, obviously you've done your research. This is the kind of people playing Total War, sweet.
I am only assuming here but, CA probably tried to balance historical accuracy against factions' STARTING equality. Hince, NOT historical accuracy at all. I, like you, would prefer historical accuracy; period.
Your thread here, along with the joy of BIG Map, has sparked an interest in me. I believe I too will look into the Settlements/cities that were really "on the map," so to speak, versus what has been included in the game.
I think that would make an interesting Thread in itself, "Suggested Settlements For Next Big Map."
    Good Gaming, Sicilian.
