    Now that there's more Mercs than ever to recruit in Deus lo Vult, what are the ones you go out of your way to hire?

    Personally, playing as HRE, I'm signing up Free Company Longbowmen, Pavise Crossbows and the Pikemen (Swiss or otherwise) like crazy.

    I dominated the Venetians early in the game by using large numbers of merc crossbowmen, who all ended up with gold chevrons. Alas, in the ultimate battle against the venetians, the crossbowmen got run down by cav and I lost 3/4 of them.

    I started with the Danes and sent an expedition to Wales to secure the services of Welsh longbow mercenaries. Got myself into a war with the English as a result. ha.

    Just started playing the Scots. NOW i can get my longbows!
