    Default How to MAKE BI MODS COMPITABLE WITH RTW1.5?

    Hi,
    i want to make some mods compitable with rtw1.5
    from bi
    can someone say me how?
    cant i replace only the bi datas with the original rtw datas?
    and delete the txt files which includes the religion and horde ability?

    ps:can i open the same thread into the rtw general discussion?

    Your easiest bet is to buy BI off amazon for £5, it's what I did.........

    BI has some features RTW doesn't have (eg. troops forming schiltrons) so you would have to strip all of that out.

    You're in right place to ask this question. Unfortunately answer is probably no you can't - an experienced modder could do it eventually, but its not just a matter of swapping file locations around.

    I'm assuming you don't own BI (or otherwise I don't see point of question) so although you could theoretically run a BI game under the RTW.exe if you amended the files that contain references to any features RTW doesn't support, hording, swimming etc. You'd still be missing the original BI files that are also required to run the mod. Original files not effected by the mod are different between RTW and BI data because BI uses different faction and culture names from RTW - you can't just mix and match the two.

    To get mod to work without the accompanying vanilla BI files you'd have to manually edit each file in the mod to use the RTW names and functions (or change the unmodified RTW files to suit BI names). Also if mod used any original BI units you'd be missing those so you'd have to alter text files to use RTW units.

    Also removing hording function, for example, is not a matter of deleting file, parts relating to it are in descr_sm_factions, descr_strat and export_descr_units - non of which can be deleted! So you'd need to know how to mod it out.
