    Default Minimal UI

Sorry for the noob question. Been playing M2TW since it came out, but it was the first Total War game I've played.

Anyways got bored with it and got tired of waiting for latest patch, so thought I'd try RTW out.

I edited the preferences.txt for Minimal UI in battle, but wanted to know if there is a way to still speed up the battles if this is enabled. couldnt seem to find a way to do so.

    thanks

Ah. Well I had this problem before. Unfortunately, it's not the most reliable, and you can't do double speed, only triple speed. To increase to triple speed, press Ctrl+T, and press again to go back to normal.

Just go to options, and where it says double, triple and normal speed. Doble click and put your key, that way you just click it and it changes.

With minimised UI you can use the F5, F6 and F7 buttons to toggle useful windows.

    F5 toggles the map

    F6 toggles the command window

    F7 toggles the unit window

They probably do, but I use Ctrl + T anyway.

If I could correct myself, they don't contain the speed trigger.

Yeah, I usually use it when I play mods, so I can just turn off the bars and watch the battle like in the movies.

Same. It also looks A LOT better when using screenshots for AAR's. If you look at my Thracian one (the siggie is the link) you can compare similar screenshots, with and without all the UI and bars.

If you want to use it for screenshots I also suggest turning off the green unit triangles in your preferences.

^^Don't forget turning off banners as well if you want to take nice-looking screenshots.

All of which can be done by editing the preferences.txt file!

For no banners find or add this line:

    SHOW_BANNERS:FALSE

    For the green arrows:

    DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:TRUE

    For the Minimized Interface:

    MINIMAL_UI:TRUE
