If this is my version, support, I guess. Not great but better than what we have now.

    Simertical.

Yes, the list is consisted of your and Odovacar name suggestions.

Since the thread was not moving anywhere, I decided to make it as an official matter so we can finally begin the theme change. Of course we can still discuss about the names here and change them if there are better suggestions.

It looks OK, I guess; but I will miss the Symposium, it had a nicely debauched air...

I don't like that civitates are called merchants, though I can't really think of an alternative.
And shouldn't it then be Consilium Mercatum or something like that?

Doesn't feodalis sound a bit cooler than comes?

Other than that it looks good.

    Atterdag.

The CdeC represents all citizens, and thus must be Consilium Burgensum rather then Consilium Mercatum.

a couple of comments.... what about the ranks not mentioned? are they to have english names and therefore look out of place? or maintain current names and look equally as bad

Yes, we need to change these names also, true, perhaps Atterdag, Odovacar and Simertical can help with the names.

This needs to be revised with the changing around of the meanings of some things. New version:

    Council Officer: Dux (pl. Duces)
Strategos: Comes Belli (pl. Comites Belli)
Editor: Comes Pacis (pl. Comites Pacis)
Tribounos: Vicecomes Belli (pl. Vicecomites Belli)
Content Staff: Vicecomes Pacis (pl. Vicecomites Pacis)
    Technical Staff: Mechanicus (pl. Mechanici)

Officer Emeritus: Emeritus Pacis (pl. Emeriti Pacis)
Senatorii: Emeritus Belli (pl. Emeriti Belli)

    Peregrinus: Bernus (pl. Berni)
    Citizen: Burgensis (pl. Burgenses)
    Civitates: Mercator (pl. Mercatores)
    Artifex: Faber (pl. Fabri)
    Patrician: Miles (pl. Milites)
    Opifex: Artifex (pl. Artifices)
    Divus: Sanctus (pl. Sancti)

    Curator: Curator (pl. Curatores)

    Consilium de Civitate: Consilium Burgensum
    Symposium: Seminarium
    Curia: Parliamentum
    Prothalamos: Camera Proponentum
    Curia Vote: Camera Suffragii
    Tabularium: Tabularium
Curia Committee Forum: Not named in the Constitution, beyond the scope of this

I think that's all, yes? Some of them are kind of sucky, honestly, in fact a whole bunch are, but still better than the current mishmash.

I agree with Sim that this list, however correct, is just sucky. Bad sucky. Maybe suggestions for other languages should be made (with examples) by others. A lot has changed since you guys first started looking at this.

Never the less, I dislike the term Mercator, but I'll be a good sport and find something as an alternative.

And then who becomes primus inter pares I wonder...

Anyway. I agree that some more changes are needed, as tBP highlighted, and I can't lend support to anything until it looks at that fact.

Oh but I like the names we have now, they make TWC...well 'TWC like'. We don't need to change...

it has the benefit of conformity, which is good... you're right, some of them suck badly. i'm wondering if this is truely what the curia envisaged when it voted for medieval latin names, but i could not do a better job of coming up with them.

    there is one issue though
however accurate changing opifex to artifex may be, thats just going to cause confusion all round.

Perhaps we will vote different now. Especially considering the time difference and events since then (the vote was in what, november? I mean Imb was Curator then...) and the fact that citizens could not vote at that time. Its quite a different Curia now.

(Which isn't to say that the vote won't be the same, or to say that medieval latin is not a solid suggestion by Raga.)
