My enduring memory of sharpe was the episode where he turns down the 'gratitude' of an incredibly hot Spanish girl because of his wretched wife back home. Can't think why that stuck with me...

The books are wonderful, been readin' them since I was a teenager. The series is great but needed a bigger budget. Also always pictured Sharpe with darker hair and a smoother accent.
Cornwell's other stuff is pretty good too.

Not in pirate mode are we! Too right they could have done with a bigger budget but being British they did what they could with the resources to hand. I haven't read all the books but soon I'll plough through them as Pirate would his cabin boy! AAARRRGGGHH!

It wuz like *bang* "Ahhhh, ye got me!" Den clutchin' at deir chests an' fallin' very un-dead like. Dat wuz tha way we used ta do it as wee smoots playin' cowboys an' indians!

I agree completely. Incidentally, have you read Stonehenge?

It's lying on my bookshelf. I think I haven't touched it yet because at the time I bought it I'd just finished tearing through his Arthurian trilogy, devouring it so ravenously I forgot to chew .
So I'm taking a break from hist fic at the moment and re-experiencing David Windgrove's "Chung Kuo" series. Can't put them down.
Back to Cornwell, has anyone read "Redcoat", and if so do you wish he would have made a longer Revolutionary War series?
Sorry, before I forget, and hope I don't get a slap on the wrist, can anyone recommend any Revolutionary War era pc games? I've done Aoe III, and the mods for Medieval I. Sorry for the divergance.

I think in the books he's a cockney is'nt he, brought up in the rookeries of London. Mind you I thought Sean Beans Sheffield accent was pretty sauve...sort of reminds me of somebody!

^Agreed. With a bigger budget they could of had hundreds of more Ukrainian extras falling over! (at least I think they were Ukrainian)

Hornblower was also a good napoleonic series... but I prefered the battles of Sharpe.

Yeah. Dunno about the TV series but the books are great. Or am I thinking of "Hornblower"? (funniest name ever BTW - means something a little gay over here)
