Default Question about late Roman Infantry

Hi, I'm not that new to Rome Total War, but I am pretty new to playing with the Roman Empire and I was wondering when do you get that late Roman Infantry that looks so much cooler and the Praetorian, etc.?

When the Marian reforms happen. This happens when you get a huge city in Italy. i usually get them at around 230 BC.

Depends on what you play. If you play with the original version then its when you have a huge city but if its with rtr i have no clue.

First of all, I just have to say something.

Hello, welcome to the Total War Center!

Now, about the late Roman Infantry units, you have to go through something called the Marius Reforms. To do this, you must have a "Huge City" anywhere in Italy, nowhere else, unless you are still playing version 1.0!

To be able to build a "Huge City in Italy, or anywhere really, the "Large City" must have a population of 24,000 inhabitants living there.

I hope I and the others have helped you out!

    God bless ye!

Can you get Marian reforms if Patavium is in your control and your first huge city? It generaly starts off as a Gallic settlement but has massive population growth.

Thank you Lucius Julius and I will see to that I obtain a Huge City in Italy most likely Roma because it has the largest population so far in my game.

Heres a tip, GET Carthage or Syracuse first, They are huge cities, so that you won't have to wait a little longer
