Who do you think is the best woman in R&R who is current?
For me its Sheryl Crow. Shes a throwback, She writes her own songs and plays quite a few instruments. And she rocks.

I have nothing against the womens movement. Especially when Im walking behind it.
I honestly can't think of any. Crow isn't bad, Jewel I like probably more because she's hot versus her sound. Other than that I can't think of any. So many women have resulted to pop, r&b and rap that it's hard to find one playing rock nowadays.
Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
KT Tunstal is awsome and a bit more modern than Sheryl Crow. But yeah, Sheryl has some good tunes. I kind of like KT's music more though, she can really tear it up, IMO.![]()

There is a singer with Chingon, an excellent latin band, that has an outstanding voice. I vote her. She sings the song severina and it's amazing. Look it up on itunes, it's great when you are drunk.

The girl from Evanescence has a great voice, if only she didn't do goth music she'd be perfect. :/
Amy Lee is her name, and Evanescence was never goth, nor is now, they used to be a Christian rock band, and religious connotation is in many of their CDs. Irony? Yes. Cool. Maybe.
In terms of best woman in rock, I have little interest in female rockers, but VH1 has been throwing a few of them on; like Regina Spektor (if she counts), KT Tunstall, and a few others.

Now? Damn. I don't know. If you asked "ever" definitely Janice Joplin and Grace Slick
But yah, I don't listen to much modern rock. let alone modern rock with women.

Auf der Maur rocks pretty ****ing hard. Highly talented instrumentally, and with a nice singing voice to boot. Can write a pretty mean tune. Criminally ignored.

Crow is folk... that's even her genre.
I'd say....
Sheryl Crow most likely. Though, one of the best women in music right now is also Bonnie Raitt. Though she is more folk and blues.
She does it all , but mostly she rocks.Crow is folk... that's even her genre.![]()

Anybody like KT Tunstal or heard of her?

Ooo, another - Paz Lenchantin.
Known best for her bass and strings work with A Perfect Circle, she's appeared in various alternative bands, as well as her own solo albums. Also hot.

I like the way that girl from german band "wir sind helden" sings
to give you an idea: here's a song from them
I don't know why but when I hear her voice I want to grab her pull her to me and hug her (that must sound freaky) She also has one of the wseetest cutest faces I have ever seen really suits that voice of hers
Jenny Conlee from the Decemberists is all that comes too mind. Oh and Bridget Reagan, too.
Régine Chassagne from The Arcade Fire has a nice voice.
Edit: Scratch that, I forgot, Mirah is probably the best female singer out there right now.
