Thsis topic about the film that had the most impact on you personally
(not the one you think is the most emotional conflicting)

Try to keep a limit on the amount you post(2-3)

    My first one is AKIRA
It's a violent japanese anima about evolution/science and change.
This film had a great impact on me because it was the first "cartoon" that I saw that was unlike the Disney films I had seen before. (I didn't know anything about the film and was about 9 when I saw it so it left a deep impression i'll never forget and it started my love for manga)

The second one is Quest for the Holy grail.
This is probably the movie that i've seen the most times and I still love it.
It was the first I saw of monthy python(I had seen fawlty towers though)
and I still find it hilarous. It defined Humour for me and I still start laughing when I just think about almost any scene in it.

the third one is Naked Lunch
I can't explain why this film is special for me but I just can't get forget some scenes. I don't really know why I chose this one above other contenders like Reqium for a Dream, Fear and Loathing, Pulp Fiction, Delicatessen or Bamboozled but I just find it one of films where your thoughts about it are more important then the film itself.(this sounds stranger then I actually ment)

So which film did you see in your youth/adolescene that partly defined who you are now(or you think it changed you.)

Definitely Voyna a mir. It's the only live action film that has managed to make me cry.

    That, or the Lion King.

Dar wun whot 'ad tha' greatest impact be da Captain's movie reel o' me first burthday. Da reel feel of dar pin an hit me smack betwixt tha eyes! Whot an impact! YO-HO-HO!!!

But seriously, the first would be the movie "Samsara". Beautifully filmed and of deep meaning to those who follow Buddhism.
The second would be a movie based in Mongolia, called "The Weeping Camel". Very beautiful. I envy those tribe people's lifestyle.

I remember seeing that for Year 7 English. We all hated it and to this day I'm still not sure of the relevancy it had to our topic, seeing as we didn't do any work on it afterwards.

I'd have to say the number one movie that had a large part in defining my childhood years would definately have to be Steven King's "IT". I had a fear of clowns for many years afterward(saw the movie when I was around 3-4). Although I'm not afraid of them anymore, I did for quite a while.

Another very influential movie I watched at a very young age was "Fire in the Sky", which creeped me out alot at the time, but in the end made me curious and kind of jump started my interest in extraterrestrial stuff.

Jurrasic Park really did it for me too.

I wouldn't know about greatest impact, but I can mention one movie that had a quote that just stuck with me.

it's the shawshank redemption where the main character says: get busy living or get busy dying. Everytime I hear that I always feel like doing things, you know.

Being older than atoms I watched outside of a learning environment, so had no academic pressure and was free to enjoy. What was your school topic? Camel vivisection?

Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

American History X made me really want to stay out of prison, particularly the showers.

Or, more seriously I felt an impact at the end of V for Vendetta, despite the obvious nature in which the message is trumpeted.

I'm not completley sure. There are movies that changed how I defined things around me, movies that make me see things differently, and movies that change how I look at movies.

Probably The Last Samurai, I never cry and that film did it to me. I managed to hold them back though.

I could go on and on about that film, but wow..

300 had kind of an emotional impact on me, at least at the end.

And Gladiator I think really opened up my artistic side in a way. The movie was just done so perfectly.

Livia, I want to see this "Voyna I Mir." It sounds intriguing.

V for Vendetta also had a bit of an effect on me, made me realise some things, i.e. the destruction and erosion of the 2nd Ammendment, the Patriot Act, the increasing possibilty of state sponsoured terrorism..

Hmm... Let me think for a bit....Hmmm..(_|_)fart(_|_).. oh that feels so good...... ........hmmm...

Going far back i would say 300 Spartans, i was a wee lad when i saw this on Star Movies i didn't know anything about the Spartans , hell i didn't know they ever existed back then , but after the movie especially the End i was hooked on the Spartan Tradition, here were Real Men dieing choosing to die not only that if the 300 were replaced by anyone else from SPARTA they would have done the same thing.inspiring indeed, had me in tears then.

Serenity also had a impact on me.

And JAWS had a very big impact on me , hell i was afraid to go into a swimming pool just because i thought a shark would EAT me.

Shawshank redemption and The Pursuit of Happyness were pretty impactful (is that even a word ? impactful) on me.

Hmmm... choosing one alone is hard but I'd say Trainspotting. It's got some of the best quotes ever.

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a ****ing big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed- interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of ****ing fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing sprit- crushing game shows, stuffing ****ing junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, ****ed-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that?

This is a hard question to answer. I have seen many movies and thinking of one that had a great impact on me is hard to come up with.

Maybe Cidade de Deus or To Kill a Mockingbird.

I think I am going to go with To Kill a Mockingbird.

    1. The Green Mile

The execution of John Coffey is the only moment in whole filmography that made me cry.... As I'm a believer, those words he said before he was dead " I'm in heaven... I'm in heaven..." made me cry like a baby... Everytime I watch this scene, it still makes me cry

    2. City of Angels

Really sad story... Since this movie I'm in love with Meg Ryan

    3. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

The drama of Anakin Skywalker is really thrilling (besides I'm a Starwars fan)

Ahhh.. The clip of "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chilli Pepers is also lurid. The influence of it for me is that I'll never use drugs anymore (even though Antony Kiedis after writing this song felt in to drug addiction once again, fortunatelly he don't use drugs anymore )
