event: Adoption of stirrups
im to lazy to write text of my own so there is copy-paste from wiki.
In the use of horses in warfare, the stirrup was the third revolutionary step in equipment, after the chariot and the saddle of the mounted horseman. Stirrups changed the basic tactics of mounted warfare and made cavalry more important. Braced against the stirrups, a knight could deliver a blow with a lance that employed the full weight and momentum of horse and rider together. Reacting to a sudden and urgent demand for cavalry, Charlemagne ordered his poorer vassals to pool their resources and provide a mounted and armed knight. The addition of stirrups also allowed a rider to use a longer (and vastly more powerful) lance by standing up on the stirrups.

and lots of info in - "Osprey.Men at Arms.150.The Age Of Charlemagne"
so im suggesting a event "Adoption of Stirrup" somewhere between 850-900 that will enable better cavalry units (for europeian factions. wich can be debated). so what do you think?

Re: event: Adoption of stirrups
Good idea, but we'd need to go through the factions and work out which cavalry units would require them. And it wouldn't affect everyone (I'm pretty sure most of the more "northern" factions didn't adopt them in this period for example)

Re: event: Adoption of stirrups
Already bought it up in the Carolingian Thread, not that anybody noticed.
I thought it could be more of a technology upgrade than an event, stirrups didn't just appear, the Avars and Huns were using them before this tread starts, the Franks were just slow adopting them.
Could an upgrade, something like the Jousting Lists in Vanilla, giving extra experience or something, be shown graphically in battle?
