Default Vista on M2, and overall

Hello, i've been here for a while and have keeped tuned, and now i was wondering if you were in a position as me now what would you do? As when you have to choose between vista Home or XP pro for a new PC, i feel that vista is very usful after all, because its the future, but from what i've heard, some games doesnt work on it, yet.
So i wonder if any of you have any advice, should i go vista or XP? Thanks

Moved to the basement as it more of a general Vista Question

For a new PC? I would say get Vista and live with whatever issues it currently has, as they will be sorted out soon enough with driver updates...though some older games may never be compatible, as is the case on XP.

Defiantly get vista - its the future and several people have said M2 runs on it.

it also means that the computer will be useful for basic use at least until the next operating system is released (years off).

XP has begun its decline - most people who have the choice will choose M2TW over RTW and its essentially the same with vista and xp.

I have to strongly disagree with the things said above - Do not get Vista until you really need to. You need damn good pc to run games like Med2 along with it and there is not really anything new thats useful in Vista. Take my advice as old-school computer user, who grew up with the earliest windows systems. Or ignore me and just call me a "old fart" who isnt willing to try anything new. Your choice.

^im an 'old fart' too, started using computers when win 3.0 wasnt out even had to use DOS to do stuff.
So im tell you to go ahead and buy Vista now , if and only if you are going to buy only 1 Operating system ,so if you buy XP then you will be missing out on all the goodies that are going to come on Vista , but you have to learn to live with the short falls of vista for sometime now until they fix things with it.
If u can buy 2 O.S.'s then buy XP , and later on when the Gaming Edition of Vista Gets released you can buy that, your choice.

Vista has serious compatability problems as well as security problems.

My advice: If you can afford to buy Vista later, then do not get Vista. Stick with XP - it's more secure, runs faster, and more of your programs will work on it.

But if the cost of updating to Vista later will be a problem, take that into consideration. It will probably be worth it to get Vista now, then.

Let's put it this way: 2.0 is almost always worse than 1.6 - In other words, XP has had years to patch it, fix the problems, and make it run better, wheras Vista is new and doesn't have the support or experience.

I chose Vista simply because I didn't want to have to purchase two OS's. I can run M2 fine without any problems. Actually I haven't had any major problems yet, except as has been mentioned some of the older games will not work nor will they ever probably.

I will tell you that if you go for the 64 Vista you can NOT currently use Live OneCare. Now most probably aren't going to use OneCare anyway but just a heads up.
