Something negative about Ran No Jidai!
Gah! It makes me sick! >=/
The quality of work in this mod is on such a level.. no.. on such a 'plane of existance' above every other mod I've seen for any strategy game period, that its almost retarded. If anything, it makes me bitter for settling for less in other mods!
Really can not wait for this thing, but after seeing the video, and the -AMAZING- previews, I have no doubt that this mod will either enslave, occupy, or exterminate the populace that is R:TW.
I'd like to list off some of the things that this mod seems to kill other mods in, if you don't mind.
1. Map
The map is ENORMOUS! Not only that, but from what I've seen of it, its very well detailed, and provides a much more enjoyable Total War experience over the same Rome centered map I've been playing on since MTW. Not to forget the strategy map units. Ninjas? That alone murders the barbarian esque assasins holding clubs in Rome. I might actually want to 'use' assasins now. Also, bringing back movies for assasinations and events? You spoil us.
2. Art Style
What can I say. Doing Feudal Japan already gives you 'default' art credit, because it by itself is hard to mess up, but you guys really capture it. Fantastic. The units on the field look brilliant, and the terrain along with it. You guys just seem more impressive on that side of things then other mods I've seen, I don't know why.
I kind of consider this mod like the Crusade one, except I hope you guys don't bail at the first release leaving an unfinished product....
3. The little things.
The detail to facts, having an actually great artist doing previews for factions. Did I mention videos for strategy map events? To tell the truth, I really didn't care at all about this time period, untill I started researching this mod, and thats a hell of a thing.
Can -not- wait to play it. I'd pay money, because this is way more work, and way more appealing then that short-lived yawn fest that was "Barbarians killing each others while Romes kind of there"
A couple questions though.. This mod is going to be a much bigger download then any others I've seen on this site right? Maybe with the exception of EB.. Im just saying, with all the content in it, and how different it is from vanilla anything, it just seems to large. I'm just hoping it will be under 400 MB when compressed. Can you enlighten me any?
Also, because the scenery, and the units look so much better then any mod I've seen will it require a significantly better system to run it, or was alot of the detail from just good detailed textures, and skilled modelers?
Anyway. Rant over, buh bye.
