Default How about a Southeast Asia - Total War?

This is just an idea, but one region that seems to be overlooked and unappreciated by all game developers so far is Southeast Asia. Southeast Asia would make a great mod because it's new and unique, if you want to try something new and get away from Europe for a while. It had great kingdoms and empires such as the Khmer Empire which ruled and dominated mainland Southeast Asia, Majapahit Empire for controlling trade and most of the archepeligo in SEA, they also defeated the Mongols. The Thai kingdoms of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai. The Mon kingdoms of Dvaravati and Haribhunjaya and more. It had great wars and interesting weapons and armors, and they also used ELEPHANTS! It'll give you a new gaming experience and immerse you into a new world with an interesting and new culture to experience, since Southeast Asia is virtually untouched by any game developers.

It had giant walled cities and wouldn't be historically inaccurate to use walls.

Unique Weapons and Armor (Chariots and Elephants):

    Some factions I propose:

    - Angkor/Khmer Empire
    - Kingdom of Ayutthaya
    - Kingdom of Bagan
    - Champa Kingdom
    - Dai Viet/Ly dynasty
    - Mon Kingdom of Dvaravati
    - Majapahit Empire
    - Srivijay kingdom
    - Singhasari Kingdom
    - Kingdom of Sukhothai
    - Kingdom of Pagan

...some more if you know? So what do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Indifference towards the idea?

Those pictures are sick! I know someone wanted to check for Far East mods and it would be cool if you could incorporate this and the far east. Southeast Asia is a pretty cool idea for a mod.

To be honest i know nothing of the South-East ASia medieval history. It's actually embarassing. What i'd like to know is what kind of kingdoms and armies these people had? A mod like looks pomising as i've never known this regions history.

Are those thai armour historically accurate and were they ever used in battle? Or are they just from a movie. I don't think southeast asian used much armour fighting in the type of environment found there.

According to Khmer bas reliefs, Thai mercenaries looked more like this in the 12th century:

Well, chainmails used by Thais could be dated back to ancient India.

So.. yes we do use armours eventhough plebian soldiers did not.

I'm not saying that I don't believe you, but do you have any historical reference of this?

Kidding, well, Thai soldiers who were mercenaries in the Khmer Empires had to dress like Khmer soldiers and their armours were nothing but 2 thick ropes wrapping around their chests. It was more affective since the ropes protected their important organs. Also, those reliefs were many centuries old. Thai armours according to historians are influenced by later soldiers from Manipura in Assam India who worked inside the Thai kingdoms as well. But chainmails and armouries were used by high class soldiers long before. ...Remember... upper classes in pre-middle age southeast asia came from India. The Khmer dynasty came from Gandhara (now Gandaha) Afghanistan, Hence the name Cambudia came from Kampujea, now Kabul.
