Default KOTOR III - hope that's true!!!

    from IGN.com:
The third chapter in LucasArts' RPG exploration of the Star Wars legacy.

NOTE: This game has not yet been announced or officially confirmed by the publisher. Exact plans for which platforms this title might release on are also unconfimed at this time. Unofficially, the game is expected to be one of three next-gen projects in the works at developer Obsidian Entertainment.
if that's true I'll be so ******* happy

Why can't Bioware make this game? Tell me why!

Maybe Bioware's Star Wars team is too busy making this game?

KOTOR II would have been soo good if it were not rushed. Let's hope that if KOTOR III does come out, it isn't as rushed and buggy as its predecessor.

    Yeah....Bioware's not making that.

Original poster, IGN has a tendency to list titles that are inevitable but not necessarily in development, especially when they're sequels to established franchises.

The smart money says that Bioware won't be developing the next KotOR for a number of reasons, and that's more than a little worrying.

Why is it worrying? Well, I'm the biggest Star Wars geek I know, but I'm also a fan of a good story. Bioware combined the two splendidly in the first, which made my disappointment more acute when Obsidian Entertainment dropped the ball on the second one. (Check out some of the luminaries that make up the studio. A head scratcher, truly.)

Also, with Bioware busy on Mass Effect (a possible spiritual succesor to KotOR, in some regards) and Dragon Age, I highly doubt that the next KotOR will be developed by them.

It says something that I'd more looking forward to those two titles than a third game.

As long as they don't make a half-ass job like they did with KOTORII I will be happy.

Yeah, KotOR II never really lived up to the legacy of the first one for me.

It was because Knights of the Old Republic had such a good storyline, an incredible plot really, and with the second one, I don't think the story was as involving, or intriguing as it's predecessor. Hell, the big plot twist in KotOR suprised me WAY more than the one in KotOR II. In fact, the game Knights of the Old Republic actually has a better plot than few of the Star Wars movies!

If KotOR can get a really good and interesting plot, with well-developed characters, i'll probably get it.

The second is my favourite, honestly. I never experienced any of the debilitating bugs that most claim to have gotten, and I thought the story was great. The characters were also far better. Other than Revan, every character in the second game was superior to any other character. Kreia, Handmaiden, and Visas get special note. Revan, of course, is impossible to surpass, however.

Anyway, it's not Obsidian's fault that they were forced to rush the game. Rarely are release dates left in the hands of the actual game-makers. To the best of my knowledge, Obsidian pulled off what they did with less than half the time than Bioware had to make the first one. Pretty exceptional, I think. Not to mention the crafting, interaction, and influence changes were amazing.

I've been greatly looking forward to a KotOR 3 ever since I played the second one.

I fear one thing about KOTOR III if happened - the game will be like TES IV and GOTHIC III, fully loaded of audio/video/fx but poor in depth of story -line.

I really hope it's not like tes 4 or gothic 3. I prefer the system of the previous 2 games.
I do agree with premaximum. Kotor 2 was my favourite as well. Buggy as hell but the better game of the two.

I am also one of those who think that KotOR II was in many ways better than the first one. Particulary the characters and the lest two dimensional and simplistic views on the force.

kotor2 had way better game mechanics than the first, but the story was unfinished and it was rushed into production. there were a lot of loose ends and non-sensical plot lines that trailed off into weirdness. it's graphics were also unimpressive considering the time it was released. I seriously have my doubts on a 3rd installment of kotor. they'll have to do a lot of things right to convince me to buy another kotor game.

The only KOTOR game I have ever played through was KOTOR II, I did try out the first one at my cousin's house, though.
There are slightly better face options in KOTOR II than the first one I noticed (more faces).

I thought KOTOR II was difficult, but I was able to play it through....
Don't laugh at me, but I spent almost a month's time at the first planet you start off at (Peragus I think).

I liked Kotor 1 better myself i felt that the end of Kotor 2 was too rushed and many of my favourite planets lacked content Korriban. Kotor 1 had better secondary characters such as Mekal i loved the mod that made him join your party.

I hope Kotor 3 is coming to PC since all the mods for the first 2 were great.

....I don't know where I got Bioware from...probaly just the references to KOTOR I and KOTOR II in that link I posted...my bad.

After KOTOR II my hopes for the series are rather low, that said, for all it's promise, mass effect still isn't star wars...so I wouldn't feel right playing mass effect and whistling the imperial march.
