this is the best mod ive tried butthe slow turns are puttin me off. turns are takin over 3 mins a time which doesnt sound a lot but turns in lands to conquer for example take around seconds in comparison.

surely there must be way to optimise it a little no?

My turns only take about 30 seconds most of the time. Turn campaign shadows off, don't follow AI movements, tone down the campaign map graphics as much as you can. I actually turned fog of war off and did all the above and got better turn speeds, interestingly. I figured fog of war would slow it down.

30 seconds how many turns have u played? u mean turn follow AI characters on how could that possibly make it faster?

and how do u mean tone down campaign graphics only things u can change is shadows and resolution which ive done.
maybe u have a super fast puter eh whats your system spec?

I've played 300 or so years into my Moorish campaign, and it still only takes about 45 seconds, usually. It's a rather short wait.

My PC specs aren't amazing. 1 gig of ram, 3.4ghz processor, 256mb video card. *shrugs*

Premaximum, you brave pioneer! How many levels does your family tree go 300 years into the game? Does it max out at 7-levels?

I love this mod also, but the lag is making it unplayable (at least for me). How do u disable fog of war?
Also, I noticed that when I ctrl+alt+del, and set the game priority to high, I notice it was using 300,000-450,000 cpu. When I did the same w/EB mod I noticed it was using 740,000 cpu.

Hrm...I'm honestly not sure, Drakken. I believe I destroyed my save game for the Moors after I stopped playing it. I'll keep an eye on my Byzantine faction's family tree for you, though.

i have a comparible system to they guys above and even after reading the FAQ turns r still takin over 3 mins. the only thing i have'nt tried is to turn fog of war (follow AI characters) of but id have to start a new campaign and play lots of turns b4 i could test it.

and i cant understand how turnin this option on would make it faster

If you have "follow AI character" on you'll have to wait all the AI generals, princess, priests, etc making their slow (and I mean SLOW) walks on the map.

You can set it off through the menu game options also during the campaign, no need to start a new one.

best way to speed up the game...erase the campaign scripts.

Yep.... I did that. Its perfect. That script must be hell on a computer.

I kept the Garrison Script. The rest I deleted.

thats what I do in AD and DLV.

I personally don't mind waiting some time during the AI turns if the resulting gameplay is far better than vanilla.

For example in my last campaign with AD, which is very similar to DLV, I finally saw an english crusade fleet entering the mediterranean through Gibraltar and I give **** if to get these results the AI have to think 3 mins instead than 30 secs because of the bigger map, the more movement choices and the more scripts.
If I would like just to have fights the random quick battles option would be more than enough and vanilla campaign and lot of the other mods around are barely more than this, quick battles.

    DLV is not.

It depends which type of gameplay you like to play. Fast and furious ahistorical campaigns which are just a pretext to fight continuos victorious battles or hard campaigns with historical sense which make you sweat every single province you're able to grab from AI. I'm not saying which is better, they're really different like apples and oranges though and performance on strat map is relatively important in the latter.

thats all good n well but a dude posted above listin the things hes done and his turns take 45 secs so is he makin that up or what?

and what does he mean by turnin fog of war off, i didnt know u could?

Press the ~ button to bring up the console, then type in "toggle_fow" to toggle fog of war on and off.

My PC seems to run extremely well on games that it shouldn't run well on, and I'm not entirely sure why. I could run NWN 2 on nearly full settings when it first came out, when people with rigs that were supposed to be better than mine had to run on lower settings, and sometimes on the lowest settings.

I'm honestly not sure what it is. So, take it with a grain of salt. Just because I can do it, you might not be able to. It wouldn't help me or the creators of DLV too much if I were to lie about something like that.

You guys complaining about slow turns -- you ARE pressing space to speed up character movements are you not?

Icon1 DlV lite will speed thingzzz up a bit...

    DlV lite
It's looking more likely that there's a Deus lo Vult lite version planned that'll run faster between turns.
