Default Regarding Ext Realism Historical Battles bugs!

    Hi XR mod team,

The following hist. battles have associated problems with RTR PE 1.8 mod-switch/XR mod:

These battles allow you to get to the factions screen but when you click the next arrow they bring you back to the historical battles screen:
    Magnesia
    Asculum
    Sparta

This historical battle causes a CTD, stating no hoplite unit or texture is found and it also creates a number of line 999 errors:
    Carrhae

Thanks, hellas1- PLEASE fix this stuff!

Carrhae works for me but I did find errors in the other three battles, fixing them right now. Thanks for pointing them out.

    Hellas,

If you wouldn't mind testing this file, it should fix the Battle of Asculum. It should be placed in ExRM/Data/world/maps/battle/custom/Battle_of_Asculum.

If that works for you, let me know, and I will release fixes for the other battles.

Wow, cool. Thanks! I don't think those even worked in the original ExRM. For that matter, I didn't know they worked in RTR Gold. I need to go back and play them sometime.

Argh, sorry, I uploaded the wrong file. That was an unmodified version of the Sparta file. Here is a fixed version of the Battle of Asculum.

    goes here: ExRM/Data/world/maps/battle/custom/Battle_of_Asculum

The .cas file is in there, I just didn't put it in the right place for it to be found by the DMB. I think you can fix it by changing the DMB to look in data/RTR/models...

    Hi Quin Inuit,

How do I do what you're saying sir?

I just installed the XR mod over RTW, Patch 1.3 then Patch 1.5

    Sorry for my ignorance.

It's cool. Just open descr_model_battle.txt in the ExRM/data folder, ctrl-f for greek_hoplite.cas, then look earlier in the line. It should have a path for the file. Edit the path so instead of saying data/models... it says data/RTR/models...

Basically, just add in the RTR directory after the data directory. Do it for all four lines that point to that file and it should work. Alternatively, I think iamphet uploaded a fix for that somehwere, and the new patch should be done soon.

    Hi Quinn,

    I looked for the Greek_hoplite.cas.

The path I have already says: data/RTR/models Soooo.............?

I unadvertedly changed the way I open .cas files. They now open with notepad!
How do I reserve the stupidity I've brought on myself?

    hellas1- Nothin' but RTR problems

Oh, it does? In that case, remove the RTR\ and see what happens. We'll have a patch out very soon, too. It's in final testing right now.

As for reversing that, what did you open them with before?

    Hi Quinn,

    Regarding the Greek_hoplite issue:

I tried to do what you asked and my RTR: XR mod game was ALL SCREWED UP. Don't try it!

After having re-re-re-re-installed RTR XR mod that Greek_hoplite issue is gone!
I DO NOT know what the heck happened. So much for that.

Please release that darn XR mod patch anyway!

    Regarding the .cas files:
I never opened them with anything before at all.
As a matter of fact I didn't evern touch them.
When I decided to, I used Notepad to open them which resulted in ALL my Rome Total War mods .cas files being changed to be open with Notepad!

The normal .cas file icon is gone and now a Notepad icon is used in place of the .cas icon for the .cas file. The .cas files are o.k. though.

hellas1- What a strange, long trip it's been...........

Unless you have some sort of 3D editor program, CAS files open up with an "unknown application". I'm assuming it's impossible to change it back to that "unknown application" but I'm not sure. Sorry!

It is possible, but requires a bit of registry editing. At this point, it might be safer to leave well enough alone.

As for the hoplite issue: weird. In any case, it should be taken care of in the new patch.
