Love is something that is quite weird. You constantly and obsessionally think about that person, you adore her/him and put her above everyoneelse.
You can not think straight or logical.Your world and universe become her. Also in the first month you feel like you're in a wonderful dream and you experience a strange happiness..
Then when the people you love begins to hurt you,the hurt is great...It's something like that.
    Shine on you crazy diamond...

I want that car, I want that house, I want to eat at that restaurant, I want I want I want that girl.....

love is just another form of a selfish need. When 2 people want each other it's an equal trade.

I'd say that'd make up most relationships, but the ones that stay together for decades actually do have unselfish motivations.

I don't know since I never felt it.
To irrational beings its just reproduction/atraction to the other sex.
To us I can't explain since it requires a lot of explanation.

I agree with Lord Sigilus, unfornatuly i have never had a girl for more than 3 days, they never want me back.Except the one i loved most who i was just to nervous to do anything with.I am experiencing only the pain of love.I know all the chemical things about love, but seriously if love is right,it doesn't mattar what it is,it is so great yet i can't have it.If there is a god he is picking on me.I hate my life because i have so much stress and no girl to cure it.I need love like its my drug, but i am forbiden to have it.

How does proving the physical existence of "love" undermine it, again? Wouldn't the discovery of it's science make it all the more valuable, precious, and inspiring?

Discovering the essence of love proves that love exists as far as we can ever know.

Every other thing has a reduced form... humans are just a protein sack filled with water. But that does not devalue them (at least, to most normal- meaning social people who actually get laid- people). Wouldn't that be a reductive fallacy? I believe their is a separate fallacy for this one- that finding the foundation and parts of something somehow disprove its value and meaning to others.

There's lots of different types of love... and everyone experiences love in different ways. There's brotherly love, parental love, comradery, puppy love, and love love.

And then there's lust. Personally, I find it one of lesser satisfying but more tempting types.

There are many types of love, so it would depend entirely (when speaking of specifics) on which kind you are talking about. One can have love for their family, for a woman or a man (sexual/relationship), for friends, for people in general, for an idea, for a group, for an animal, etc etc. So, when it comes to the specifics, it would be a little hard to define them all in one go; except for the fact that they are all just chemical reactions in the brain that lead to bodily feelings and mental instability, at times. But, besides that, love is a very diverse thing and cannot be easily defined, by anyone.

I assume you are talking of love between two individuals on a mutual caring/sexual basis, i.e. between a man and a woman in a relationship. In this case, it is still a chemical reaction, but it is much different than any other of those loves I spoke of. I personally have not had the privilege of experiencing this kind of love, yet. Although I thought I did at times, I was direly wrong. I have seen other people in love though. To me, it seems like a feeling and a mindset that develops from intense physical and emotional contact with a person to which they feel they have a strong mental conection with. But, in the end, it is a reaction in the brain that brings on feelings of euphoria, which lead to different thoughts and actions one would, otherwise, not really think of.

Thats my two cents on the love thing\

EDIT: Sorry, I must reword what I said a bit ago in this same post: Love is a diverse thing that causes the chemical reactions in the brain, leading to feelings of euphoria, not a chemical reaction in and of itself.

Love isn't a chemical reaction, which some people are insisting. Life is split into two fields: physical and metaphysical. Love is metaphysical. It can't be described by science, because love isn't a thing; love is an aspect of life. I mean if people want to believe life is run by these concrete things, that love is just a "chemical reaction" and stuff like that, thats fine. Do what you want. But to me, love, and life in general, in that respect seems quite senseless.

Love is a fire. But whether it is going to warm your hearth or burn down your house, you can never tell. It's like a beacon of light in the beginning and a string of unbreakable silence filled with all good emotions associated with mankind. But for some,it becomes an arduous course of life, for those 'some' aren't able to make it despite of the fact that love was bestowed inside them since the beginning of their lives. They tussle, take to blows and wage wars for love, the eternal element but with little success.Ultimately, what's left with such people is a lifeless passion with no direction,no intention and most of all,no level-headed perception. But when people are able to live through the hardest phases perpetrated by the circumstances, are able to fight against the notion of individualism and are able to comprehend the true meaning of love, then it signifies that they have gained accomplishment in every chapter of their life because it's love for which we are born,it's love for which we shall die when the eleventh hour comes and with patentness I say, love is the every possible force in nature and without it,the locus of our life's path ends up in abyss...

Love is probably one of the most complicated subjects for people to discuss. There is a literal view of it, that it is just a chemical reaction. Which it is, its proven. But then there is a metaphysical side of it, the side that can't be proven scientifically, something that you feel, and yet its more. Words cannot describe it, and it is left to each person's interpretation. To me, whenever I see the girl that I love, my heart is on fire. Something just clicks, that makes me say this is the one. Look at the link from Eqcards. That to me is definitely love. But as I said its up to each person's own interpretation. But I think its something that is sacred and exceeds words.

4 Love has long patience, is kind; love is not emulous of others; love is not insolent and rash, is not puffed up, 5 does not behave in an unseemly manner, does not seek what is its own, is not quickly provoked, does not impute evil, 6 does not rejoice at iniquity but rejoices with the truth, 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails; but whether prophecies, they shall be done away; or tongues, they shall cease; or knowledge, it shall be done away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part: 10 but when that which is perfect has come, that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I reasoned as a child; when I became a man, I had done with what belonged to the child. 12 For we see now through a dim window obscurely, but then face to face; now I know partially, but then I shall know according as I also have been known. 13 And now abide faith, hope, love; these three things; and the greater of these is love.

Good point Ronnec. That sums it up. But this is an opinion thing, so no one wins. Least in theory.

Love is something that you can't explain, is just something that you feel...

Love is a fire that burns unseen,
a wound that aches yet isn’t felt,
    an always discontent contentment,
a pain that rages without hurting,

a longing for nothing but to long,
a loneliness in the midst of people,
a never feeling pleased when pleased,
a passion that gains when lost in thought.

    It’s being enslaved of your own free will;
    it’s counting your defeat a victory;
it’s staying loyal to your killer.

    But if it’s so self-contradictory,
how can Love, when Love chooses,
    bring human hearts into sympathy?

    Luis Vaz De Camões
As armas e os barões assinalados...

    Que, da Ocidental praia Lusitana,
    Por mares nunca dantes navegados
    Passaram ainda além da Taprobana,
    Em perigos e guerras esforçados
Mais do que prometia a força humana
    E entre gente remota edificaram
    Novo Reino, que tanto sublimaram.
    Luís de Camões - "Os Lusíadas",Canto I
