Default (Moved to Vote) Curial Decision: Rank Colours

Following the passage of the New Constitution, we have a couple of additional ranks, and must note that all Content and Technical Staff now rank equal with moderators, and all Content Editors equal with Global Moderators.

as such, i suggest a few changes to the rank colours so as to normalise things a bit, and prevent the online user list looking too much like fairy lights

    Ranks
    Peregrinus - black

    Citizen Ranks
    Citizen
    Artifex
    Civitate
    Patrician
    - Dark Red

    Honorary Ranks
    Divus - Teal
    Opifex - Purple
    Senatorii - Navy
    Officer Emeritus
    - navy

    Officers
Local Moderators (as per member Rank)
Curial Officers (as per member Rank)
    Judges (as per Member Rank)
Committee Members (as per member Rank)
Staff Officer (Technical and Content) - blue
Senior Staff Officer (Content) - bold and blue
Staff Moderator - bold and green
Senior Staff Moderator - bold and green
Council Officer - bold and purple

    Divus
    Opifex
I much prefer the current colours for both. If those were kept the same i'd support.

Awarded the Rank of Divus for oustanding work during my times as Administrator.

i was trying to cut down the number of different colours.... i'll see what others think, but if the overall opinion is that Divus should stay as Cyan and Opifex as Purple, so be it

I agree with Lusted on this count - these are really the utmost honors one can attain as a member here, they deserve some unique recognition.

I go with the tBP model except that only the following ranks should be bold:

    Staff Moderator
    Senior Staff Moderator
    Council Officer

    Completely support tBP's proposal.

This way the civitate/Artifex imaginary divide is reduced without abolishing any ranks.

I support, under the condition that Divus and Opifex colors remain the same.

That teal is very pleasing and evokes something ephemeral.

    The purple's not bad, either.

I always thoght bold was reserved for people who could ban/moderate so they could be easily identified. :hmmm:

Anyway I like the rest of it.

I would also like to see Divus and Opifex to stay as they are, other then that i would like to propose the following chances:

    Curial Officers
    Judges

Since the Curial officers hail from the civitates class i would give them that colour. And same with judges, since they will be Senatorii.
Also i would like to propose for the local moderators to have their distinctive colour,so they would be more easily regogniced. I believe this would just help the work of the moderators in the modding section, since people could contact the local mods with simple chances like editing or deleting posts.

ok, i'll chnage Divus and Opifex back

the editors should be bold for ease of distinction, so people know who to contact. personally, for equality across the ranks, staff mods shouldn't be bold, but that would be impractical.

Curial Officers and Judges wouldn't have either badges or colours, therefore they'd maintain whatever badge and colour they were previously using. So, a judge would therefore either be Blue Teal or Purple, depending upon which of the possible honorary ranks he holds he is choosing to use.

Well in that case, all i have left to do is to support the proposal.

This is not about equality it is about practicality. When a member has a bold name they have always had the ability to moderate/ban, this is the case on many forums and is so because it makes them easily identifiable. There is no reason for the editors to be bold, it serves no purpose really as if people are contacting editor they already know who they are. A new member is never going to need to pick out an editor in an emergency, while with a moderator they might.

So, why do editors need to be bold? :hmmm:

In fact, I think that boldness should be removed from rank names entirely. Bolness should come with moderator powers, and that is all. Separate it from rank name colours, and make it an automatically bestowed thing on moderators of all levels.

Except local moderators please, especially those that can only mod their own mod's sub-forum, we don't want to start getting (more) requests to move stuff around other forums than is already caused by people not knowing what 'Patrician' etc. means! Putting bold in for anyone with ability to ban / effect user accounts is probably most logical, as they are ones most likely to be needed to be contacted in emergency.

EDIT: Aargh too long posting again ^^ I assume 'public fora' solves my problem?

ahhh, but here's your problem, editors do in fact have moderator powers...

i think its useful to easily identify editors from writers at a glance for the same reason you ought to distinguish moderators out. ease of recognition.

administrators are purple and bold, by pure job description though, the chief technician, chief of content and speaker shouldn't be moderating.

its a very simple rule of thumb, moderators are green and bold. with but one exception, no one else is a moderator. the exception being the chief moderator, who would be purple and bold
