    Default Alienware

I have been looking at the Alienware website for a time and have considered buying one. They are extremeley expensive though, are they value for money?
Does anyone have experience buying an alienware PC and would you recommend one?
Because i wonder if there are better deals out there and the amount of money i'm paying for an alienware is paying for the brand name.:hmmm:

I really NEED to upgrade my computer because the one i have now is junk!

My post in your other thread was a bit of waste then....

It looks like you want to buy a pre built computer so could you please answer a couple of questions.

    1) Do you want a PC with a new monitor or are you going to buy a new one or keep the one you currently using?

    2) Does the new computer need to come pre installed with Windows XP/Vista or are you going to install you own operating system?

    1. I would not buy a new monitor.I just need to upgrade my specs.

2.I have no idea how to install a system,so it would need a pre-installed with windows.

this a good website to buy a computer with any specs you want but you don't have to pay for a brand name. and they put it together for you and make sure it works.

let me know your budget and I will throw together a couple of builds for you to look at if you want.

Can that play all the recent games at max settings?
I want a PC that will play all games to be released within an year to play on max settings with no slow down.
    will that PC do that?

    I just saw this beast:

Dual 768MB GeForce 8800 GTX - SLI Enabled

If you can afford it then that beast would run all today’s current games on max settings with no slow down. As for the future that's harder to gauge.

well don't touch alienware, They are good pc's but extremly over priced. With your budget you can easily build a top end system if you go to a website and order the parts individually and build it yourself.

    I would recommend www.scan.co.uk

    @ cudakite

£500-£2000 translates to roughly $1000-4000 USD which is a huge ammount and more than sufficient for a top end system.

i know he want's to avoid it but it dosen't justify the extar £500 it's goign to cost him, building yourself is incredibly easy you just need to give it a go.

Thank you for all your help.

I am unsure about building my own as i have never built anything electronic in my life.
I do not have a clue were anything goes.Apart from specs i have no idea what so ever when it comes to building my own PC.

I fear i would break it and end up spending even more money.

No offence but that's a bit of a waste of money. I can immediately see where the money has been wasted. The SLI cards and the unnecessary 4GB ram.

As a result you've gone for a rather sh!tty hard drive, AND you've exceeded the budget.

I would say sod the dual 8800GTX's and go for one, go for 2 gig ram instead of 4 (as 4 is simply not needed, even for gaming). The Conroe could easily be OC'd to 3.2GHz then buy a Zalman 9500 Heatsink/Fan to cool it. On top of this two Raptors could be purchased and put into RAID 0 or alternatively pick up a Raptor X for about £140 I seem to remember they cost on Ebuyer.

IMO, that'd be much better, and you wouldn't have a slow hard drive bottlenecking the system.

Remember, your computer is only as good as its weakest part.

SLI. the basic concept is it splits the screen in half horizontally and each card renders only half the screen. which can give a crazy performance boost. of course both halves are synced so you don't see a split of anything.

Build your own! I was apprehensive about it but I came up with a brilliant solution- I got a friend to do it for me! Good ol' techie friends.
