    Default Breaking free of gaul.

I'm playing a roman campaign on m/h settings. Now what is the best method to defeat these bastards. I don't want to completly conquer them just yet. I just want to conquer thre northern settlements. The best thing that I can do is defend Italy and build up my legions and then do an invasion. Cause just attacking there settlements is not working out...I always see 4 to 5 full stack gaul armies to my 3 stacks. What do u guys suggest. And plus if I don't defend Italy they just walk right through and sack my cities.

    Thanks

Build forts with several of each type of unit behind your legion so you can defeat a stack or two, replenish the worn down units and send them back to the garrison to be retrained. So that you rotate out your units.

LEAD, FOLLOW OR GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!

yeah turtle up, defend at the river crossings/mountain passes, have reinforcements so they can take over guard duties when you're retraining your worn down legions

if you're not using garrison script, i suggest that you resist the urge to expand north into gaul before marian reforms...the only expansion you should undertake is to sicily, and even then, you should wait until you have your economy up and running

rep me if you like my posts, and it's highly likely you'll get some back

I'am using the garrison script. Well I'll try what u guys are suggesting. Just got to hold the lines I guess. I just lost a major battle lost one of my generals and now they have a clear path to my capital.

    Thanks alot for the feedback

    I apperciate it.
