Please help, I'm having problems reinstalling video card

I was reinstalling my ATI 9600XT after following this guide.

But when I tried to reinstall my driver it says something like this.

Set up failed to run:
The Remote Procedure Call Failed.

Does anyone know what this means?

I hadn't heard of "Remote Procedure Calls" before, but google sugguests that it has something to do with networking, or recieving data from another computer.

The problem being, I can't think of a situation where reinstalling a driver would need to use your network, if the updated driver install file was already downloaded from the internet.

So my guess, if you connect to the internet through a wireless network - make sure the connection is on. If you don't, try downloading the driver installation again.

But a warning: The first reason that came to mind for a strange program asking for access to the internet could be malware. Generally, if a program that you don't think should need access to the internet wants access to the internet, it is a good idea to be careful about it - it could be some kind of a virus.

Other than that, sorry I can't be more helpful. Someone here will surely know more than I do, though.

Are you running XP? Is your user set to Admin i.e you have full access to all of your PC?

Basically a Remote Procude call error happens when the installer tries to call upon already functioning DLL's whilst trying to install, which is a bit of (another word for a female dog) to solve. The first thing you should so is run Windows update, secondly follow this guide and update you Install shield to the latest version. Also deleting any Temp files you have on your computer wouldn't hurt either.

Failing all that I would resort to more traditional means, download and run Driver Cleaner, this will remove all traces of your old drivers from you computer. When this has finished delete the Catalyst drivers setup that giving you all the grief and download new one.
