End turn alt-tab?

I installed rome total war (+BI) from total war eras pack (has all patches allready installed), downloaded the platinum realism mod 1.8 and installed it into the rome total war directory. There was som bat.file that I run too.

The game seems to run fine but there is one major problem. Theres a small area on the bottom right and rightside of the screen that alt-tabs everytime I try to click it. It covers the factions and end turn buttons so if I try to click then the game alt-tabs and nothing happens. I can alt-tab back to game (it doesnt crash) but if I retry end turn it alt-tabs out of it again.

The vanilla version of the game seems to work just fine so it looks like its a problem with the mod. My graphics drivers are latest (and mostly everything else).

EDIT:

I found the reason. The platinum mod breaks widescreen resolutions. When I downscaled from 1360x768 to 1024x768 the problem disappeared. While this problem existed there was actually a visible stretch effect that happened during the loading.

After many hours of further investigation (I ran into even bigger problems) there a chance that its not a problem with this mod but the game itself.
