    I'll give my opinion.

I don't have an explanation and I doubt anybody online will if SCIENTISTS couldnt.

    Wow, that's pretty strange...
I'm a dumbass, but I can say that it could be cause by some natural problems, like something related to petrol, perhaps... Some perfuration people did on some nearby grounds and then it moved some sands: the result was this kinda strange act of the ground, expelling sand and more sand... But this would be a unusual thing to happen, wouldn't it? Even impossible I may say...

So, don't trust this man's idea (speakin' of myself).

It could be caused by cracks/faults in the Arabian plate, allowing masses of extremely hot gases to be unleashed... I'm not sure though. I do know that forces from the asthenosphere are strong enough to blow apart Mt St Helens <-- they did already. So blowing sand like a fountain is not so farfetched.

For what it really is, I have no idea.

I guess i think of that too :hmmm:

Most interesting is also the background score, I thought only insurgent snipers in Iraq use it for their documentaries. It seems to be standard in the middle east, they use it for every movie they make!
Well , what you hear is quran

It could be, as some already mentioned, a natural gas pocket that had been ruptured somehow... that would be the best conclusion I could come to. Being as I don't have any expertise in this area. That would be my best guess: Pressurized gas/air released from a pocket in the earths crust.

    Wow, that's crazy.

But you should expect a lot of these reactions from people, not just some kind of answer, cuz I don't think very many on here could give you a reason as for that.

Still... driving along the road and all sudden that happens.... crazy.

It could be like a sand equivelant of a geyser. Then again I have no idea.

    Pretty wierd though...

some sort of divine retribution, im thinking sodom and gommorah, supposedly the oil movement under the sand causes sand eruptions in this area and the whole peninsula will explode.

    It's natural gas.

Cool video. Most interesting is also the background score, I thought only insurgent snipers in Iraq use it for their documentaries. It seems to be standard in the middle east, they use it for every movie they make!

Heya Katsu, long time no see

I wouldn't be standing to so close to such a thing...or driving near it...I have a feeling that it (the natural gas geyser, most likely what it is) probably is A. Really deep, and B. making the nearby road sitting on sand that is shifting as a result.

@Richard, the third movie really was bad
