Default A pool for new units

Every mod have need for new units ... 10 mods x 40 units = 400 units ... a way too many ( and who knows if many of this mods will never be finished ) ... so why we dont do a POOL of new units in which we put every new unit when its done ? so every modder can take the units he's interested like in a supermarket ... every zip of a units should include

-the part to be attached to the EDU
-the part to be attached to the MODDB
-the graphic files ( basically are four but can be even only one , depend )
    -the UI icons
and eventually the text file part .

We can create an enormous database of units for every use .

That is very good idea which I would agree on, but do not really know about other members... I find it very advanced and comunity friendly so I'll support you on this.

It's a very nice idea...but then every mod would be the same to the others in teh graphic part...and so it would be kinda boring in my opinion...

Dragases you are right but with the problem of the moddb file how many mods you will install on your pc ? 1 i think ... because every one will try to install the best mod ( or make by himself a patchwork of mods ) and enjoy the game , so i think that few peoples will see that some units can look the same .

Actually this is like taking an open-source view of mod development. I really like it.

It probably wouldn't fit for the fantasy mods, and some mods which have large art teams and exclusive units, but I really think it could be useful, especially for smaller teams.

I suggest that you flesh out a proposal and post it in the Mod Community Forums... something like this could be part of the mod registry, sort of.

I'm suprised this hasn't come up quicker, honestly, it could revolutionize the modding community, potentially.

Expanding on this if I may,

-people will be listed for credits
-the model is open to free use and editing as long as credits are due

yes there is btw a problem and is the ownership of the unit
if you have to change ownership this imply some work on the modeldDB file ... for an expert can take 3 minutes but for a rooke is a nighmare

After practice, rookies turn into veterans.

And it is surely less time invested than to create the unit from scratch themselves.

I'd suggest you write a proposal yourself, or I'd gladly take care of it for you.
