Late appreciation...

I've lurked in the TWcenter forums ever since the late stages of MTW(1), but never felt compelled to ever post for some reason. Well I finally did, just to make sure some of my favorite modders heard my support.

Im sure there are thousands like me too, so don't get discouraged! Great mod, I love it! When you guys, I could tell were kind of wrestling with not going further and fully completing because of the MTW2 I was always pulling for you guys.

Superb work. Better late then never, hope you guys check this forum some reason and see people still appreciate the effort.

Huh just wanted to say that your mod completely eats m2tw, its just no match and in fact I even prefer your graphics then m2tw. In m2tw it all feels so modern, theres just no medieval feel. And as a Pole, I really appreciate your work on this nation. When Im playing Poland on m2tw Im gettin bored after 10 turns, here.. I dunno why, maybe its cause of the epic feel of the game, maybe the great music, medieval style pictures, RED banners , colour on map and units of Poland (not white like in m2tw.. Danes should get blue-yellow and Poles red-white), great battle mechanics which allow you to conquer even whole country without retraining (losses on winning side are usually 5-10%, in m2tw 50-60%), maybe its more difficulty in conquering new cities which make you more happy when you get one (not like in m2tw - you have too many of them there and give them out for better relations..).. Maybe historical accouracy of cities and regions? Facing many various cultures (norse, german, hungarian, czech, mongol and russian)? Or it all together? Anyways, you guys have beaten m2tw and its really great achievement! Congratulations!

hivTW hasn't the intention to compete with M2TW

You are welcome. There were already a few more, who appreciated Chiv above M2TW in some categories or completeley. However, ChivTW hasn't the intention to compete with M2TW. The Chivalry Early Era game has just its own medieval flair, and is probable rather to mention as a "quasi M1TW" update on a modernised engine (but engine-wise unfortunately lack of many nice things in the M1TW-engine). Regarding the technical engine-properties, it naturally cannot come even to the M2TW possibilities.

I also felt that some words of praise were long overdue, strangely it was M2TW which I bought on the day of release that made me play Chiv again.

Of course there are still the things that kept me from getting into Chiv before, like some graphic details that disturb me far beyond the limitations of the engine compared to M2TW,namely strategic map and units.
Imo the battle handling feels a bit clumsy from time to time and not only because of the new UI (I can't find where to set the battle speed and I am to lazy to assign keys).
I also think the eastern european battlemap buildings shouldn't be greek (rather roman or a mix of roman/barbarian would be better imo).

But your campaign simply is a blast.

I really love it, somehow you really have managed to capture the spirit of MTW minus a lot of the flaws, the music is awesome as well (and that's saying something compared to the original).

I am definitely looking forward to the 1.0 and everything on the way toward it.

As for the battle UI, you can change it back to "normal" one, to find out how, read it in the FAQ thread, specifically the section about game settings and preferences, or assigning keys doesn't take any longer...
