Hello Total War (and Adult Swim) phans!

Welcome to the Adult Swim Thread, please feel free to discuss your favorite Adult Swim Comedies or Animés. I am also adding a poll to this thread, please post whether or not you prefer Comedy to Animé, etc...

There is one rule though, please post a comment saying why you voted Comedy or Animé. Also, it helps keep the thread alive.

My favorite Comedies: Futurama, Family Guy (just sometimes, the humour is getting kind of stale nowadays).

My favorite Animés: Cowboy Bebop, Case Closed, Lupin III, InuYasha.

Sealab was a good show. Do they still show Sealab episodes on Adult Swim? Captain Murphy was the single greatest comic creation in the history of television.

Unfortunatly, I forgot to add a 'Both' vote. And yes, Samurai Champloo has fine animation, I watched the first episode even. Its a voilent show, but thats what makes it entertaining.

I love samurai champloo and I could appreciate Ghost in the Shell, theyre what I call "Adult anime".

But I absolutely hate Inuyasha, with a seething, boiling passion. What do people see in that show? Heres an impression of your average episode of inuyasha:

"Oh no, we're being attacked by the kagorotomi demon! Use your renokokuku attack to stop its demoriyama gem power!"

 Seems like a real little kids show to me...

    Both...

Comedy: Futurama and well, the usual.

Anime: Ghost in the Shell, Death Note and Hellsing. (or wait, are we only talking about anime on Adult Swim?)

    Comedy. Because I am weird.

Tim and Eric Awesome Show Good Job
    Venture Brothers
    Sealab 2021
    ATHF
    Frisky Dingo
    Assy McGee

Also, if you are out there enough, these shows are political/social satire. And I freely acknowledge that the creators of said programs may have no idea that this is the case.

    Oh yeah,

    Tom Goes to The Mayor

That was awesome. Almost exactly like Midwestern municipal politics, only with more sniffing of dogs asses. Unless we're talking metaphors, in which case, they nailed it.

Lol, thats kind of funny, I guess that is how the average episode of InuYasha would go. Although I used to watch it a lot, now that the series is 'over', not much anymore.

And I did watch Ghost in the Shell before, its a pretty cool show, it just isn't on at reasonable hours.

Oh, and RZZZA, I see you like the Boondocks, I haven't seen the show yet, but I've heard of it. Mind telling me (and some others) about what the show is like? Thanks.

the boondocks is a show centering around the problems of a radical pro-black youth named huey freeman (get it, freeman?) and his family. His grandfather is a staunch conservative, his brother riley is a stereotype of the "gangsta youth". His best friend is a little girl of mixed ethnicity having a black father and a white mother. Their other neighbor is a self hating black man. The show provides incite into hip hop, black america, and america in general. I think its a pretty smart show.

Check out this clip, this is my favorite sequence from the entire show so far. If you like this then I think youll dig the spirit of the show.

(You can spot the influence from samurai champloo. This is a parody of Zatoichi, the blind swordsman)

I let my modern US history professor borrow my Boondocks DVD set, and he loved it. It says a lot about suburbia, black culture, and post-9/11 lunacy. It also runs with the stereotype that white bread families can't discipline their kids.

Huey: "Everyone? May I have your attention, please? Jesus was black, Ronald Reagan was the devil, and the government is lying about 9/11."

*people start freaking out and fighting each other*

Granddad: "Huey, wake up boy! You were dreaming about getting white people to riot again, weren't you?

I like the Anime shows, but lots of them have stories you have to follow. You can't just decide to watch them one day without missing much of what's going on. That's why I like Lupin the 3rd. Just about every episode is a new adventure, and it's funny.

I like Aqua Teen, Boondocks, Venture Bros. and Home movies best. My favorite characters in each are Meatwad, Riley, Brock Samson, and Coach John McGuirk
