Default Regarding a constant Sarmatian CTD!

    Hi all,

thanks for the 1.8 build! Great work!

I seem to have a constant crash with the sarmatians!

I besieged the rebel city below Campo Scytai, or whatever and when my troops got in and reached the center of town, SMASH!, big Ol' CTD!

This happened again when I was fighting the Thracians in open terrain.

    Any suggestiosn?

    Hi A.T.P. ,

    Thank you for responding sir!

I don't know what you mean by giving you the save game.
What do I do, Save the game on a disk or something?
Bizarre and new to me sir.

I'm using the Regular 1.8 version, not the switch mod.

    Again Thank you sir, hellas1

When you save a campaign in-game, the game will create what is commonly called a save game file, that contains all the info the game will need to reload the campaign a you were previously playing. This save game file is created by RTW in the folder named...

    c:\progran files\Activision\Rome - Total War\saves

Above is the default location for the version of the game released by Activision before Creative Assembly was bought by Sega. If you bought a version of RTW sold with Barbarian Invasion as RTW Gold, the name Activision will be named with Sega.

Inside this folder are the save game files. When you save a campaign you are playing, you can name this save game file whatever you wish, for example, rome_shall_burn. Th egame will then create a file in this folder called rome_shall_burn.sav, and this file is what we are asking about, the save game file. There is also a save game file created every time you end a turn called Autosav.sav in this folder. This file is automatically created by the RTW game itself.

If you could attach your last save game file to a post of yours here in the TWCenter forum, we could download it to our computers and startup yor campaign on our computers in hopes of being able to recreate the CTD and be able to assist in finding out what is causing this problem for you.

Ok, we also need to know a little info.

Are you installing any other mods other than RTR Platinum v1.8 in your RTW folder?

When you installed RTR Platinum v1.8, did you install it into a RTW follder that was not previously used for installing some other mod in? This is commonly called installing the mod into a "fresh" RTW install.

Also, you did not install RTR Platinum v1.8 on top of a previous version of RTR Platinum, right?

What do you mean by "constant Sarmatian CTD"? Does it occur every time you reload your save game and try to take this city?

You should look for saved file here
    ...\Rome - Total War\saves
its a file with extension .sav
And when u find that file youst upload to some hoster like rapidshare.com and post the download link here.

    Hi Gentlemen,

Thank you for your timely responses.

Now that I think about it, I did install the mod-switch historical battles fix.

    Might THAT cause this problem?

    Hi again,

Sorry for the double post but it might be due to installing the -mod switch historical battles fix as to why I have this prob.

I'll delete my current RTR 1.8 and do a fresh install using mod switch with it's historical battles fix.

    Thanks again, hellas1

    I'll keep you posted!

    Hi All,

    Everything is cool.

It seems as though the Historical Battles fix for the mod-switch version screws up the regular game, so I installed the mod-swith version w/hist. battles fix.
